Maybe I'll run MG this sunday, but if strong winds still prevail - all I can bring with me are deep vee hulls.
Thinking along those lines, I brought down my red colored speedmaster .21 hull converted to FE from the attic. This was my first "performance" boat when I started boating last year. We created 2 of this and the other one is Tagasagwan's avatar.

The running hardware on my red boat came from a SV27 - motor, esc, etc. Basically, everything that comes with the sv27 minus the hull/canopy/boat. We did swap the stock 45a with a T120, but the sv27's motor 3656 1800kv was still used.
The first run last year was just to see how well the legendary speedmaster hull performed and quite frankly we were impressed - however, it seemed under powered. It was like running a 36 size motor with either a 2s or 3s - it definitely lack speed.
A second run happened after many months but the results are the same - and after the first run, smoke came out of the boat when we opened the canopy. It seems the motor is the culprit of having bad bearings - probably ever since we bought the sv27 parts used long ago.
Since then, I've shelved the boat but Tagasagwan has long fixed the bearings on the 36 motor - but neither has been put to work since then.

Ive installed that 1800kv motor in my F1, so Im eager to try it out with the new bearings that Tagasagwan replaced. But due to high chop waters, I wouldnt know when I'll be able to test it out.
Well, my red boat probably got a bum rap due to a bad motor at the time and undeserving of a cold shoulder coming from me due to the addition of other boats/projects - thus im thinking of a small project I could do to it while waiting for the 37" Cat and my gasser.

Its still sports a shiny red gloss paint, so im leaning towards a new canopy and a new decal scheme - maybe a Ferrari theme?

You are 100% wrong!!! I want a new boat while waiting for a new boat to come! hahahahahaha!

Jason - we're about the same time. I probably started about May-June of last year. But in your case, you were already ahead into gas boating for a few years before you went FE. All my boating experience is a mere 7-8mos.

Mac your esc doesn't look good mate! rust and crap everywhere. I did some magic and I'll test it soon! Cross your fingers! Your outrunner is such a pain in the A$$ plus I ordered and got the wrong bearings! Darn! I'll wait for the correct bearings to come in next week. I'll outfit it with good Japanese ones (ABEC-9 grade)! I intend to change my motors with Japanese or German whatever is available as long as they're ABEC-7 or 9 or ISO492 class2. Swiss bearings are hard to come by!

I think I'm at 8 but two are old ones(20 years ago) and one is from 3 years ago(scratch build).

Oh it sounds like Tag is the bearing connection should the need arise.I am questioning the 1717 in the 35" as it has seen salt water despite what the seller said.

Guys - any motor size/kv suggestions for a 42" Osprey mono hull? I presume 6s?
