Thanks HYDROJERRY, My point exactly. It's great having friends like you guys though we may be far apart.

Guys,
Sorry for going out of topic but, I started a thread at the Christmas gifting Section regarding the tragedy that happened to the southern part of the Philippines. Please check it out! Thank you!My Aquacraft SV27's old Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoTm4Btz41Q

MG is better! I love both boats. The genesis is fast and looks great 'scale' in the water but found It does not turn nearly as good as tha MG. If all all you want is straigt runs the genesis is great, but it will flip if you try to turn it at any decent speeds. I would go with the MG.Miss Geico CC1515 2200kv T180 2S2S- Twin Genesis with 2 2700kv 2 T180's 4S2P- Stiletto with 2030kv T120 4S1P-DF33 4082 1600kv T180 6S2P- and lots of gassers!Comment

Glad to see you are doing fine there Mardon. I can't help with your question as to weather the Genesis or MG is better. I can tell you that there are those out there that will tell you the MG can't go over 60mph. without becoming uncontrollable. Well I can tell you mine handles like a charm with a 4082 2200kv Nem. Gold motor on 6s with a 645 prop at full throttle. If that aint over 60 I don't know what is. Can't say anything regarding the Genesis though.Comment

Geez Eco,6s.Mine went airplane on 5s with my 1515 & X642.Granted it was after I broke the transom(didn't realize the damage). Not giving up though, probably need to move the batteries up a little.Spun 2 shafts out of it since. That lake is hungry.Speaking of,anybody seen any mods to retain the shaft&prop if it should spin?I have an idea.Comment

Yeah, the HK Joysway Surge Crusher was my first ever Cat and I really enjoyed running it which is why I got a MG. While both have similar running characteristics, the MG does offer a lot more!
Looking at various cats nowadays, it seems they are narrow and long. It reminds me of a dragster car - great at straight speed runs, but a little to be desired when it comes to turning. Which is probably why I got the MG, it kinda balances just right. Its not as low profile as the other cats, but I kinda like its "bulginess" than the others out there. It looks more scale too - which is probably why I went with making a more scaled canopy hehehehe!
Have you guys seen any rc cats out there that is similar to the MG? Of course, aside from the PB Mystic which is basically the same hull - I cant say if the MG has similarities with anything else out there. But if anyone is in the market for 'dragster' looking cats, there seems to be a lot to choose from these days.
Stephen has both the skunkworks and KOS cats, but constantly asks me if I've molded my MG already! Hahahaha! I guess I was lucky with Phil's hobby Shop who only charged me $6.70 shipping cost from Indiana, USA to Manila, Philippines. Heck, even stephen didnt believe it till I showed him the ebay link of Phil's.
My MG is really a blast to run - the more that I run it, the more Im loving it! Its a looker too! I had some fellow boating friends who looked at my boat while running their own boats - which resulted to their tumbles hahahaha! That fluorescent color really attracts attention ........ or maybe hypnotizes! hahaha!
I recently changed motors, from a Keda 3660 2200kv to a turnigy 3674 2200kv motor. I sense it runs better with the Turnigy. I also promised myself that I would run MG with my current 4s packs, but I recently ordered 2s packs just to see any improvements if I lighten the load a little bit. Darn, you really get to eat a lot of promises with a boat this good!
Im still on the lookout for 40mm size motors like you guys use. Maybe a 4074 or 4082? I still cant find that elusive CC1515/1y that some of you are using, so I keep searching the secondary market for one. If not for the current gas boat Im building right now, I could probably sway in getting a bnew one - or unless Castle offers a sale on those!
BTW - the MG canopy fits the PB Mystic as well, correct?Comment

well guys i have a PB MG and a Genesis and a FC Carbon fiber Daytona twin and ill say the Genesis looks more like a real Mystic cat then a Geico and i love the look of its sleek shape and no it cant handle the turns but as for me ill suffer,,, the MG to me is short and dumpy but still looks cool and can handle turns alsume but in straight aways i think it always looks like its going to back flip!!! as for your question Macdon i think ose has that new hull thats just like a mg just bigger,, the Explorer cat 36'' long its pritty close.Attached FilesComment

my buddy Tequaman has the MG and the Explorer and i think i remember him saying they are just alike other then the canopy has the little loovers in it..Comment

Sorry to say I can't find that Tacon 4074 motor in stock anywhere. That motor performed very well in my MG. I was lucky enough have purchaced a 2000kv version and a 2150kv version. Have the 2150kv in my Rustler VXL now. I may regret saying this but I'm not using my 2000kv 4074 at the moment. It has the water jacket and I think I shortened the shaft also. If you can't find anything you like this motor is ready to just drop in your MG. I used it in my Surge Crusher which couldn't handle the power and now the hull is cracked. Can't say I won't change my mind later but as for right now I don't have any plans for using it. I think I ran it about 5-6 packs through it, no more than 10 for sure. Turnigy does have a 4082 1600kv. motor in stock right now. If you click on 39mm. or above motors and select the Turnigy 4082 1600kv. motor and wait for a few minutes the price will drop to below $52.00. On 6s that motor would give you 35,520 no load rpm. The only problem I see with it is they are rating it at 2,665 watts and the tacon 4074 is rated at 2,600 watts. Both of my 4082 motors are rated at 3,500 or above. Turnigy must be giving us a constant rating rather than peak. That is a question I havn't gotten an answer for so far. Hope this helps Mardon.Comment

Yea srislash, I know I'm crazy with my MG build but if you make sure all the screws are tight this boat can handle it. Of course you know to dial in your C.O.G. and strut.... Last time I took my MG out with the crazy setup were talking about on 6s with moderate chop she never appeard to want to fly and seemed to be asking to go even faster. Now where am I gonna find something that will fit under the hood to go even faster? I don't think it needs more than 4.67 horsepower or higher rpms when the prop spins 48,840 no load rpm. If I could find a prop that can give a greater total pitch that would still fit I'd give that a shot but I think I'm at about the limit now. I might be able to fit an X648 prop which would give me about another 6mph. Using the speed calculator here at O.S.E. my setup should give me a maximum speed of 88mph. with an X648 that would go up to 94mph. I did kind of a low tech speed run and got an avarage speed from a dead stop over 620 feet of 84mph. I'd say the speed calculator here is pretty close. I'm not talking about the measured distance but rather where you put in your motor info, your prop info and the kind of hull info. They don't have a cat selection to I used the worst case scenario of a hull slippage of 25% and that gave me a top speed of 88mph. Since my in the field numbers and the numbers derived from the speed calculator are so close I'm confidant this hull is good for well in exess of 80mph.
I hope that makes you feel good about the capability of your hull selection. Yes there are those out there who don't own one who will tell you your boat can't handle that kind of speed but I hope this puts your mind at ease. Just make sure you take all the necessary precautions.
On that last question of yours. Are you asking if we have ideas how to keep from losing props and shafts?Comment
-
Yeah,I was thinking of the props and shafts.I have lost one at the motor collet and another one at the solder joint.Don't buy Aquacraft, cheap solder. As soon as I punched it on 5s,off it went.4s was fine, two runs on it.I was thinking if I were to put a shoulder on the prop shaft with 638 Loctite just ahead of the bushings in the strut the shaft could not slide out.I don't like losing $40 props.

MACDON have you molded it yet? Have you molded it yet? Have you molded it yet?
Have it molded and make a Carbon Kevlar hull, Sponson trued and tips and seams reinforced. Then I'll air-brush it! Joke! I don't have the time to air-brush nowadays! Plus, it would be a waste to cover the Carbon grain of the hull! Hehehe! But I'm serious about the hull!I have access to carbon fiber, carbon kevlar in black-yellow, black-red, black-blue or fiberglass in black that looks like a real carbon fiber without the CF tag price!
