And just wanted to show how easy it would be do make a standoff for your gear, i did this in about 15min last night on my Genesis,, first removed the rudder, had some long bolts so i drilled out the bolt holes that connected the rudder to the strut,, took a short measurement then found some tubeing just bigger then the bolts, cut them down the put the long bolts threw the strut bracket then slipped the tubeing over them then put on the rudder and nuts and here you have it!PS everybody loves pics..

Nice!!!! Now finish the build and get her on the water!!!! Just kidding.. Take your time and do it right. You should blueprint the sponsons. Mine were cupped badly. Have you read about blueprinting the ride surfaces?

If you do a search for blueprinting you will find a detailed thread about what I'm talking about. Basically you flip the boat over and take a nice flat sanding surface 12 inch minimum length, and start lightly sanding the bottom of the sponsons to get them perfectly flat. You will find that the ride surface is not flat we call this "hooks". After sanding a little you will find that you will need some glazing putty for the low spots. After the putty is dry, you sand again. Keep doing this until the ride pads are nice and flat. If you do this, you should do more reading up to make yourself familiar with the process. This will make the boat faster and alot more consistent when driving!
