I think Douggie may be talking about this confusing statement
"They are USA products...everything is USA, but made outside of the country"

I hope no one is confusing the words "designed" on their websites homepage to mean anything more than they sent their specs and cad files to an outsource manufacturer overseas.I'm sure they're a fine motor but if they had any more of a "Made in the USA" component to them it would likely say so in big bold print.

If you talk to them they will tell you they use USA products and ship those products out overseas for assembly. they are 4 pole, better bearings and a quality motor in every way.

        Pardon my well aged skepticism
since it appears that a couple of you are intimate with their sales rep maybe you could talk him into posting here that they do indeed use all American made components ( A selling point that should be on the front page)

Says who? You can either buy their motors or don't buy them. Their components are as good as neu as far as Im concerned. RC car guys will tell you the same thing if they have run them. They don't need to prove anything to anyone or do anything anyone says they should do. When did you guys make the rules on how someone should run their company. Don't buy them!!!!!!!

Thanks to all who gave input on this post. I agree with a lot of things said about these motors. I thought it would be a great new product to try and wanted to share it to all of my fellow boating community, but this started some sort of argument on...USA vs Non USA products. As stated..from the company in a personal phone call, usa products ASSEMBLED outside of the country....Like many great US products. I was asking for input, not argument and someone asking me if I am joking, or smart allic responses to being excited about a product that I wanted to share. Come on......I know this boating community is not comprised of grumps that want to down talk every product that comes across the market. Soo far on all of the forums that I am a member of...including, intlwaters, rumrunner and offshore...everyone has been very open to sharing new ideas, products etc. bottom line, as already stated...if you don't like it, don't buy it. But don't knock another for being excited about the product.

It never ceases to amaze me how a informative post can turn to crap in less than 12 posts.

I have also heard good things about these motors...it is perfromance vs price as he was trying to point out. Or that's what I was reading. Bonus if it is designed and engineered in the USA. How many can say that?

We have all been buying china crap for years....whether you know it or not. Exception is Castle.

I belive that Castle had to put a disclaimer out a few years ago. They may be made in the USA but from what I remember, they also use "China crap" in their products and they had to declare this. It was something to that affect if memory serves me.

That being said, I have and do still use some of their products.

Not much is 100% made in any country anymore.

mainly because of one person who has no good input other then bashing and asking stuipd questions..

I have some real world test results for you guys if you like.
I own a mega ACN 22.20.1 motor wich is a 4 pole 5500 KV motor. as well as a NEU 1506 5500 KV motor. ( same physiacl size)
the NEU ran in a 2s rigger on 1P and it ran GREAT and very fast... i put th MEGA in there ( 2 year old mega VS and BRAND NEW neu) and it ran a bit faster and turned the boat lose so much quicker. it was like it gave the boat a bit of red bull.
and this was a heavily used, raced ( for two years) mega motor VS a new NEU.
SO yes! i will continue to buy MEGA's because they are fantastic!!!!

Can anyone provide a link for the Mega motors?
In case these motors or the Medusa have same or even better performance than the NEUs but the NEUs are more expensive it will be because the NEUs are made in the USA. If the Medusa or Mega are cheaper that will be because they are made somewhere else (licencees Asia,S.America) according to the makers specifications and quality standards of course. In the latter case quality will not be a problem since these motors are made as per the USA maker standards.
I deal with ships engines where the designers are German & Swiss but 95% of the engines are made in China and Korea.

And there is where the Chinese motors come from. They take the license to fabricate a motor for a USA or European maker but then they follow their own way, make their "own" motors and put their brand name on it.
This applies for many products and seen it many times.

I just ordered a 36-70-2000 motor for my titan 29 boat that I am putting together this winter. Will be using 4s2p A123 on a 642 prop so I won't be pushing this motor too hard.

I am an airplane guy and also ordered a 36-60-1300 for edf use at the same time. The guys over on rcgroups are pushing these motors to 2000 watts comfortably and the larger 70 and 80 sizes to 3000 watts. EDF throttle usage is different from boats, but its still a pretty tough environment and a good indication of quality.

Its no Neu, but its looks to be a good motor at about half the price of one. Bearings are good too. Will be interesting to see if more boat guys use them.

Whats the diameter of the Medusa can? Any cooling jackets fit?
My prop hasn't been wet in a while.
