    If any of you guys buy these and have a good set of calipers I can maybe help with the water jacket.

      Thats what I was curious on. I'd try one out but I want to be able to cool it....

      Steven, would this help?

        My 36x80 medusa mics in diameter:35.84mm or 1.411 inches

        With regard to length, is is 80.53mm or 3.170 inchs HOWEVER, the motor has the wires exiting out the side so a cooling sleeve could not run the entire length of the motor.
        Its length to the cutout in the case for the wire opening is 74.30mm or 2.925 inches. I would think you would not want the cooling sleeve to run right up to this opening in order to guarantee that no water go into the motor at the edge of the wire opening.

        I have other brushless motors I can put in my emaxx and erevo. If someone builds a water cooling jacket for this motor I will put it in a 32 inch epoxy dv I have or a 34 inch aero. titan I have. It is a 1600kv rated motor.

        Tnks Curt

          edit: I thought there was a good diameter number in there but I guess not. I just might have to be the guinea pig... I'll throw it in my Erevo if not. 36X80 2200 here I come.

          I visited with a car guy I have a great deal of confidence in last night about this motor. He had working knowledge of it as one of his friends had one in a stock emaxx with 14.4 batt. setup. He said the guy tore up his emaxx with it in less than and hour. He said it just had too much power for the truck. Mine has a alum chassis and a lot of alum parts with robinson racing gears in every area of the drive train including full metal rr gears in the tranny. He told me this motor would simply strip out the hubs if I had that. He felt the 36x70 was better suited for the monster trucks.

            Stick the motor in a boat and send us a reply with ALL documented data

            After at least 3 runs

                I am working to get the 36" team believer going. If I put it in something it will be sport only and not more than 5s power. Calcagno unless you get what is in stock you will need to wait probably 4-5 wks for the motor. I wanted a 1600 instead of the 2000 which was all they had in stock at the time. Ended up waiting 4+wks for it to be built. Was well worth the wait however. The feel of the armature turning over is not anything like the neu 1515 I have. It has such megnetic resistance compared to any of the other other motors I have.

                  So I'm guessing these motors don't spin freely like Feigao's, they are more the the SV27 and BJ26 motors...

                      Well they graciously took the time to reply and just as I said...

                      "Steve,

                      We get the various components fro the motors from all over the world.

                      The only thing we get from China are the magnets.

                      Yes, we do all the design work and everything is made to our specifications.

                      Regards,

                      Jeff Little

                      Medusa Research, Inc."

                      //////////////////////////

                      These motors are made from outsourced parts and built by offshore labor...only the design work and specifying is done here in the USA.

                      Now none of this was to try to discount these motors quality...just an effort to clear the smoke from the room...

                          so....first run with windy conditions.
                          hull=head of the river cat
                          motor=medusa 36-50-2200v2
                          batteries=zippy flightmax 2200 3s1p 25c in parallel for 3s 4400mah- 110 amp
                          prop=octura x/440
                          after 2 first min. of running i checked the motor temp.it was rediculous 23c.so i continued to run it hard until the batts ended.the temp of motor was 43C and the esc was 60C.with graupner K42 about the same.the motor have lots of torque and the max speed its impressive.unfortunally i forgot my gps for measuring top speed.next time.

                          on 4S
                          batteries=2 x2S truerc 8000mah 15C in series for 14.8v
                          prop=graupner K40

                          after some testing runs motor temp was at 63C and esc at 60C again.everything cold and nice.with 4S its was difficult to check max speed because the waves , the boat was flying easy.thats my first impressions from medusa on a fe.for sure my medusa stays on my cat.the motor is excellent for me.
                          sorry for my english.

                                Just a note regarding the watts stated in Medusa site for the 3680. The 1300 watts are for minimal cooling, with proper cooling these can be doubled. Just received their reply:
                                "The watts we list are for minimal cooling.
                                If you can properly cool the motor (i.e. airflow & heatsink or water jacket) you can pretty much double the watts.
                                So to answer your question, yes, if properly cooled. The motor case temperature should not exceed 180F"

                                and my question was:
                                "Is it safe to operate the motor at about 2000-2500 watts, 22.2 V, 100-150 amps for about 5 minutes?"
