I just found an interesting telemetry system for just $50 bucks ... which is surprisingly cheap for what it is compared to some of the ones I've come across.

Might be worth a shot. What would you guys recommend? I believe the Spektrum radios have telemetry-- is it any good for the price?
It sure would be nice to tie it in somehow to have some sort of last resort "kill switch" failsafe of some kind based on the temps or current, etc.

Actually only said that the hull really liked to only go straight with anything bigger than 45mm props. Rudder input was a real battle of strength bettween the 'posi' effect of two props and the force of the rudder wanting to steer the boat. All boats really.

      No harm no foul Mike.

So then there is a benefit to running smaller props on higher rpm setups then? Sounds like the boat being unsteerable is kind of a big negative lol

Yes, on certain set ups. Some of KFXGUY's set ups are along those lines and he has a very clear goal and knowledge. ( correct me if I am wrong, Travis)
However, first impression is hard to erase. Your first pair of motors were at certain kv and let's just say that had the set up worked , you would've felt that such a combo would be an everyday norm. Since you are now wanting to go for a certain margin of comfort----meaning you are dropping the kv, the immediate thought is to find an equivalent formula to gain back the speed. I am the same way, human nature.
But there are many factors and it is going to be a process to find the ideal size prop for your hull.
To answer either "yes" or "no" would be over simplifying the matter.
Just my $.02, please feel free to correct me anybody!

Too many boats, not enough time...

There are pros and cons to both setups (some of which are debated regularly), and they vary with different hulls, but mainly larger props can begin to affect handling negatively, more so on some hulls/setups than others, but the can also be more efficient on some hulls/setups.
Personally, for anybody new to boats I'm still inclined to suggest rpm's in the range below 38,000 for 4 pole motors just because there is a bit more margin of error on setup. Your 2050kv on 6s setup was over 45,000rpm, for something like that your driveline had better be running true and balanced, which yours certainly doesn't appear to be. With those set screw drive couplers and no stuffing tube supports alone I would be very concerned with high rpm's.
I would imagine you could still get very impressive speeds out of a set of 442's in a slightly lower rpm range if you wanted to consider it.

Ok :) Definitely will take these concerns into consideration. I'll be redoing the drive lines + adding inlays this week depending on when I'll get my new drives from Germany. Was thinking to add an MHZ bearing support for the flex/tube near the collets. What do you guys think of torque arms for the motor to add more support to decrease vibration-- have you guys ever use those before? I've almost never seen anyone use them in their builds for some reason...

I've been researching diff telemetry kits for temp sensors but most of them seems as if they might be limited to like 1 sensor. Anyone have any experience with http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._mAh_V3_1.html or whether it supports more than 1 temp sensor?

Do some research on eagle tree telemetry. Steve sells some stuff here, and a lot of guys speak very highly of it.

And using it you can safely achieve your goals. It is well worth the time and money in keeping things monitored

Does eagletree have any kind of real time transmitters like that Quanum system that shows temp data in front of you, or does it just do data logging?

Looks expensive as heck though. Almost the cost of an ipod... but without the bluetooth, wifi, or mp3 player. :D

Is this what you mean by "torque arms"?

I got this idea from nata2run ...Thanks Kent!

Yea, except that's the overkill version of the idea that I meant :) lol
