You have to remember that part throttle kills the ESC, if you want to run initially a bit slower to get the feel for it, the correct way to do is prop way down, but run full throttle. Get a cheap plastic prop for that.
I recently learned that a 3 blade prop if not used correctly can really do a number on the components
. As said before, the outrunner has more torque and might work fine with the factory prop .
