I think the x452 2 blade would be fine but I always start small and work up. You need to constantly check temps while running. Start with the X450 and go to the X452 if it runs cool on the X450. I try not to run anything hotter than 130/140 deg. some people run hotter.

You have to remember that part throttle kills the ESC, if you want to run initially a bit slower to get the feel for it, the correct way to do is prop way down, but run full throttle. Get a cheap plastic prop for that.
I recently learned that a 3 blade prop if not used correctly can really do a number on the components . As said before, the outrunner has more torque and might work fine with the factory prop .

Thanks Raptor ,we moved out to this paradise 1yr ago and it really is beautiful. I'm about 2 place my prop order with OSE today. So when props arrive install x450 and run it at full throttle for 30 sec bring it in check temp? If running cool keep running? For a min then check temp again? When do I check data logger? And what do I look for?

One thing no one has mentioned is that you say you aren't going full throttle most of the time. Your esc controls current flow by turning off and on very rapidly. By running partial throttle you are making it work overtime, add in HV and its working double time. A cap bank would help but you need to open it up (the throttle). Sorry you paid such a premium price for max amps batteries. Looks like marketing prevails again.

I just want to thank everyone for all the help. I've been racing R/C for a long time. I thought R/C boats would be easy . It's way more complicated. How do you guys figure out what prop,voltage,engine,esc to use with boat size?Is there an math equation or something?

It took everything I had to not say anything about those overpriced batteries. That could be part of his problem. The more powerful batteries I run, my stuff runs cooler. Chris can vouch for that.

It very well could be, not sure how they are getting to 12000 mah, I actually have a pack that large a customer brought in out of a medical dummy, It was a 5s 12000 mah lipo, 3 of the cells ended up being dead so i converted it to a 2s but the c rating is only 10. I'm not sure we can trust MaxAmps 12000 mah claim seriously let alone the 100c rating.

What kind of charger are you using? Does it measure how much Mah you are putting back?

Yes that's the wat to do it, I know it's a PITA but it's the only way to make sure you're not melting things down. you can check the data logger anytime in there, as far as I know there is no certain amount of time you have to run for it to log info. With the Swordfish ESCs I have the hand held program box and you can check data with that box too, it's much easier than doing it with a PC or Laptop.
