The $44 BL motor test coming up

HXT 36-56 2700kv Brushless Inrunner (WaterCooled)

Coupled with the $12.50 50 amp controller, it should be interesting. GPS and DPR recordings will be provided. Hull, 1/12 Classic Hydro on 3, A123 cells.

Total cost $102 for batteries, motor and controller

May be a flop, may work fine.

            Thoughts

I don't expect it to compare to the Neu motor at all. This is not an all out see which motor is the fastest on the planet test. This is a test to see how one can have fun with a lower budget.

            thanks,
            Steve

Hurry up and test that thing. I need a cheap set up for my daughters new boat. I just want to know if it goes up in smoke and if its faster than a similar brushed set up. Looking forward to the testing! Keep us posted!!!

It's going to be two weeks or so........I am going camping next week. Doozie is doing the same test in a mono. It's not going up in smoke, I'll fuse the system until I make sure I get it setup properly.

If you want to run brushed, there is $31 800 motor on Amazon that will last foerever, in fact it's brushes can be changed.

I have that motor and ran it briefly in a 4s 33" mono. From memory it ran hotter than I expected even with the water jacket .Sorry no hard figures as I put a Feigao XL 2084kv motor in it's place soon afterwards.Still have the 36-56 motor just needs 3s lipo to keep things reasonable I think

I agree, this motor will not compare to a Neu. It is rated at 475 watts and a 1521 will handle 2500 - 3000 watts. Watts = Power. It could be a good motor, if it can handle the heat?

It's a 3S motor, I don't care about what class it fits in.

The 1521 should be in an unlimited class, that's 4HP and complete overkill for most people. I don't need a fishing trolling motor.

It's just a matter of finding out what hull size and type matches it. I will be watching too. Thank you for your testing efforts Steve.

My plan is three Classic Hydros all setup the same for Matthew, Mom and Dad (me) and Andrew in training.....if this motor does not work, I know the 800 Doozie motor will.

                              Yes

As we talked, we may need to go 4S with A123 and 3S with LiPoly
I should have all the parts soon. Guess I need a 5mm to .125 coupler though, not sure if I have one or not.
                              Is the 700BB 5mm?
