Alright, so apparently you can't put epoxy on top of epoxy.. Lol so I managed to take as much of the original epoxy off as I could then sanded the boat down. I filled in the split with bindi glass

Then I started sanding the sponsons since I have nothing else to do.. This is how untrue they are..

    Filled with bondo body filler..

Now I'm waiting for this to dry up a bit so I can start sanding things down... I don't know why but I think I have more fun building than driving...

Sorta half assed it... This boat won't last long anyways. Haha

        Yes, day and night!
Looks just like Gabe_k's although he did a much more thorough job than I did. I did not bother to true the front sponsons as I am by nature a lazy bum.

          @ Gabe_k,
Looks fantastic, and let me tell you, you will now treasure the boat more than before. I completely understand your enjoyment with the repair!
BTW, I LOVE the cute dog in the last pic.

Nice work Gabe. I didn't realize how far off the sponsons come stock. Looks like I'm going to have some long nights this week

Make sure you use a large flat block sander and not the orbital sander when you try to finish the ridepads. See Darin's raceprep thread on the MIss Geico for blueprinting guidance.

Thanks, I only used that sander to knock off material from the extra glass, the sponsons were done all by block

                    Some primer

It isn't the prettiest fix but I think she will work.

What? You even get rep points for this. I'm dreading taking my MG apart to prep for paint and attempt to level out the sponsons. Your MG was so trashed and now it's gunna be sick when it gets some paint on it. I can't wait till mine is done getting touched up and painted. BTW what color are you putting on her?

Well I bought some regular rust oleum spray paint, it's neon orange.. Ill do a couple of coats and see how it looks... Idk how this paint will hold up in water so I may just re-do it with appliance epoxy.. Either black or white

Rustoleum is a good paint. Maybe spraying some clear over it might make it hold up better in the water. I am in no way a painter. Just a thought. My boat is getting painted soon. Luckily all I have to do is prep it. My neighbor that I run my boat with runs a sign shop so once I prep it there going to paint it for with their equipment and materials. All I know is they have sprayers so we're going to paint a couple coats of paint and clear over the primer. If I didn't have their help I would rustoleum or krylon it

Yeah I was gonna see how it comes out and then spray it with clear to seal it up a bit. We'll see how it goes. My parts will be here today, but unfortunately I have a golf tourney for work I got to be at tonight... Bummer lol

Here's a picture of my friends dads boat who actually motivated me to fix my boat up..

He runs a 8s and 10s set up... This is the fastest boat I've ever seen in person. He fried 3 castle 240 esc's and now has a 300a that he got off of here. Freakin nuts. He also just gave me a t180 and wouldn't even let me pay him for it..

That boat is sick! How fast is it running? Can't beat getting a 180 esc Fo free. I blew mine this sat. I think it's covered under warranty tho.

I ran with an old timer this weekend and he uses those floating doodles in his sponsons like that boat in the pick. It holds his batts inplace too. Seems to work well

Haha he swears by them! I should have done that from the beginning rather than put that foam in mine-__-

That hull was a gas boat so it's super sturdy, but very heavy.. But has no problem hitting 70.. I think 80 was his top speed or somewhere up there.
