So after MUCH disappointment and heartbreak with this massive 1450kv TPPOWER motor I got talked into buying and not getting ANYWHERE near the speeds I was expecting, I've decided to swap out motors and throw back in the Castle 1800kv motor. I haven't run it yet, but only hooking up batteries and throttling it up in my house, by sound alone, this thing is SCREAMING!!!!! I kinda can't wait to see what a difference it'll make(or how long it'll last before POOF(Im thinking the electronics should hold up as there have been guys running 2200kv motors with my ESC and never smoked anything).......Will keep you updated guys

Who told you that setup would run 70mph? The math doesn't work out. Mid fifties is right where it should be with that setup.

What size is the castle motor and what do you have available for batteries (possible voltages to run).

Chris Fine is the one who said this to me when he told me the THIS WAS THE MOTOR I needed.( I think you were the only one who knew it was him in the beginning of this thread when I quoted the horsepower rating he was claiming about this motor) He said with the X450 and "good" high-C rating batteries, the boat would run 70. The size of the Castle motor I'm not positive on, other than its 1800kv. It's the stock Spartan motor though, so I'm sure someone on here knows it by heart. I have a set of Zippy 11.1v 45C 5000mah and a set of Maxamps 11.1v 150C 6500mah batteries I just got for Father's Day.

I would try 5s first with that 1800kv motor,
5S is what I am going to be testing in my Pursuit setup tomorrow.
            With a m447 prop modded.

I think he started you off with unrealistic expectations. I'm not saying that the Spartan can't go 70, I'm positive that it can. I don't see it doing so with that setup though, and to go that fast you should be prepared to face some hurdles. There seems to be an emerging theme of unsubstantiated speed claims coming out of that camp.
They are being dishonest and unethical.

You would be surprised at how people react to honesty though. There are many people who want to go a million miles per hour with cheap parts.
-Tell them the truth: that what you sell is not what they need... They accuse you of not helping them, "blowing them off", etc., when you really just had their best interest in mind and didn't care whether you made a sale or not.
-Tell them that your Chinese motors make "xyz horsepower" and will easily get them the speed they want (even when it's not at all true), then they praise you for your help and service.

It blows my mind. The people that stay in the hobby for a long time get to know who's full of sh*@ and who is trustworthy, but unfortunately there are always a lot of new people in the hobby, and it's easy to fall for false claims. Claiming a speed number is as easy as opening your mouth, or hitting a few keys.

It's crazy....between every penny I've spent between the boat itself, all the upgrades and the 2 extra sets of lipos(including the latest addition Maxamps which were $165 a piece), I'm well over $1600 in the hole with this stupid plastic boat. I know for sure with that amount of money I could've built a bad ass cat running over 70.......I feel sooooooooo stupid. My next move may just be to buy a Genesis hull and transfer everything else from the SPartan into it.....is this a good strong hull capable of hitting the speeds I'm after or is there a better hull(same price range) I shoud look into?

Yea man, she's seen a few crazy flips like that. And now that I put back the 1800kv motor, I think she's gonna see a few more spectacular ones!!!

So, I've been eyeing the Genesis hull as a replacement for my Spartan. My plan would be to simply transfer all my hardware to that hull from my Spartan. Do you guys think this is a good choice? Or maybe someone who sells the Daytona hull(supposedly its the same hull) can shed some light on any differences, both good and bad between the Genesis and Daytona? If I was to go with the Genesis, I would get the one that comes with motor and hardware installed vs just the bare hull since it comes with all the mounting brackets and stuff. I really don't have to tools to take a bare hull and build a boat from the ground up. What you guys think about my new idea? I've kinda given up on the Spartan by now. The plastic hull is starting to come apart at the seam from just a few high speed flips, and Im not a huge fan of how you cannot turn at even moderate to high speeds without it flipping or submarining itself.

                              Hey.

                              I have the Daytona with a 1515 1y 2200kv motor,
If I where you I would look for a wider hull than that for the setup you have on hand.
What do you want the boat to do as far handling and speeds,
And also what kind of water Conditions would you like it to handle well in ?
                              ? ONLY IF THEY WORK

Well, I want a fast boat(close to or even over 70mph) and from almost everything I've seen online, with the exception of riggers, cats are the way to go. I'm not really going to any sanctioned races with it so I'm not too worried about being able to corner at full speeds, I'm just tired of having to slow down almost fully off plane to turn the Spartan without worrying about it flipping. As for water conditions, the lake is almost always flat or with a very light chop. And when the chop gets too rough, I don't run the boat.
