We're very near death in our day to day lives here so we have no fear of the road. Some crack head will pick me off one of these days.......or I'll blast into a bridge overpass at triple digits. One of those.

I can't bring myself to build an N1 boat on purpose.

Are you talking about "N1 Brushless Power"?? Or "Wilmer or Darin's N1 Brushless power"???

The El Lobo might work fine if you go all out... The trick to making the system work is that you HAVE to get the good R/C Car ESCs with the "Cheat" mode, or, in other words, "dynamically adjustable timing"... Without it, you are running a 2200KV motor on 2S with predictable results... With it, you can get the RPMs back where you want them and where they will work with a "normal" N1 sized prop...

When I first ran the BL system in 2008 at the Lake Minden Nationals, I won the class, turning a 45+mm prop, and set the 2-Lap record at just under 60-seconds turning a 1750 2-blade, both with just a Barracuda 80 ESC and with a pretty warm motor...

Now, the 2-Lap record is 42.3 seconds, and was set turning a prop that started life as an X435... that same prop without the Mamba Max Pro ESC wouldn't even put the boat on a plane.

That's where the cost of the class really rises... You spend $89.95 on a motor, and then have to spend another $127+ on a speed control that will actually power it properly, and you MUST have that ESC to make the system work. A B80 or ICE 100, etc., simply won't do it. The Static timing, even if you could set it to 40+, would kill the system in 2-laps...

Honestly, N1 needs to remain a piece of NAMBA's past... It's more work, and more money, to make a competitive setup, than most of the P-Ltd classes... and you still get to watch paint dry.

No... because N1, in the rules, only has a 1/2-mile race distance... so 3-laps, not 6... [Busting Terry's Chops mode=ON]But of COURSE, you already know that, being the former FE Chairman for NAMBA... [/Busting Terry's Chops mode=OFF]

            Still... it's not very exciting...

40-mph 2-way average at the SAWs, however, was pretty exciting to watch...

this will get me in trouble but here goes. Flame suit on!!!!

Sort of like Indy vs Nascar. Both have their place, only one is much slower.

Sounds like Darin just doesnt want to make the trip to Michigan next year.

You asked for it!!!! yeah they have their place....both of 'em in the garbage dump!!!! F1 all the way....they actually allow different manufacturers makes and engines to race each other....yeah just like racing used to be.

                Sorry for the hi jack!

I talked to Pags too and he said what a great event it was. I may have to try and make it next year as well.
Terry, just curious if you ever ran the Dinogy batteries yet?

Mark, you would fit right in here.

I did run the Dino cells. Beat the pee out of them too. I was convinced I had killed them with a disabled LVC . Nursed them back. We decided to run them in something we wouldn't be to upset to lose if something went wrong. By the third round the IR was back down to ZERO. Holy crap. ZERO?

I'll be having more of those in the future.

Thats great to here Terry. Sounds like you could use a pack with a little more mah. Propperchopper did the same thing with his. He ran the packs twice without any recharge. Both packs were hot and puffed. The next time I say him he said the packs charged back up and ballanced fine and are still going strong.

It wasn't a lack of mah. It was a lack of paying attention. I was fiddling with the strut on my Q and apparently ran about 10 laps....................because I'm stupid. Limped back to shore. No puffing. Just way too low empty. They came back up but the resistance seemed really high. Didn't want to take a chance with them in my whip. The boat's just to pretty.

So Fred ran them in open cat against PAGS. Not sure on the amps but the cells got better every run just as you suggested they would.

                          HOLY CRAP!!! What a race!
OK almost a week later and I still haven't unpacked the Truck!!!! Well Mi guys thanks for everything! This is and will be the premier venue for FE racing in the future, I can't say enough about the MMEU club and the ELKS. The facility is awesome, full banquet hall, bar, restrooms, power, did I say FULL BAR!!!!, they even have tabletop shuffleboard!!! Everyone at the ELKS loved us and couldn't have been nicer. The MMEU club knows how to run a a race and it showed. Eveyone knows I run a ton of classes and now w/ my girls it's even more (11 in all for the weekend 33 heats sat 22 on sunday) Thanks to the way they ran the race, they were able to tolerate me holding up the racing a bit (sorry guys and thanks for waiting for me the couple times I wasn't ready and the one time I had a 5-10 minute complete meltdown!!!) As always Fred Terry Mike Ball Tom C and all the rest of the guys in the club worked hard to make this a great event.
The racing was great, there was close competition in every class. I think almost every class came down to the last heat, no one ran away with any class. LSO after 5 heats was 3/4 of a lap 1st to 2nd. Going into the last round even my 8 year old (Nina) was in the mix she only needed 10 laps to make the podium!!! She flipped trying to avoid another flipped boat and only got 5 laps or so but ended up 6th overall. All the kids drove great too, Ava Nina Ty and Landon had a lot of fun and put on a little show for all of us in the Kids P-limnited mono class. (BTW this class should be a fixture at ALL future FE events, we need to get more kids involved)
Thanks for all your kind words guys, I did very well but not without a lot of help, terry, fred, tom, mike, ken, joe and all others who helped pitting me and my daughters, all the MMEU guys I can't thanlk enough. Terry's P-Mono is frighteninly fast, Tom and Fred, those Q cats are getting there!!!! Mike ball's Q sport is a sight to see (when its not upside down) and Ken woullda and shoullda had the scale class wrapped up but he had to leave early on Saturday and didn't run the 3rd heat. (if he did and just finished 4th he would have won the class) All the scale boats were very fast and compettitive. I had a lot of fun at this race, I also was very busy prepping 11 boats. Doing well always makes a race weekend more fun, but I could have lost every heat and still had a great time. Fred and Terry are 2 of my favorite people I've met in over 23 years of racing, and getting to know Tom and Mike better this weekend only made me more fond of this MMEU group. Oh and By the way a big hats off to my cousin Max, he drove my truck out there while me and my kids flew and hung out all weekend and he had a blast too. I can't wait till next year and a Full Mi Cup race..................Oh BTW the cup is safe and sound it has been in My daughter Ava's room since '09 when me and douggie won it at the Nats!!
