The water didn't feel particularly fast. It's got trees on every side so even with gale force winds you get about 1.5" chop. It stays near perfect all the time. In OPC though, Mikes boat really is that much faster than the field. No offense to those that ran with him but there was Mike and then everybody else.
Nice... so a 1:40 or so... That's just about what Brian runs with his TS-3 setup... Last time out down in Eugene at the D8 race, I ran a 1:36, followed up with a 1:33 in heat racing, but we found out that the course had the corners setup at 65' Diam., rather than the official 70' diameter, so it wasn't an "official" record, obviously (though having the turns a tad wider wouldn't have made much of a difference, and may have actually helped as we wouldn't have had to turn in as far).... Motor temps were just breaking 105 or so. That was with my standard heat-racing prop. Same setup I ran a 30.xxx 2-Lap with on the Sunday after the Nats. I didn't try the "fast" prop, as it makes the boat a handful exiting the turns and I haven't tuned around that yet, but that is the prop that did a 28.9 2-Lap, having the peddle the first 1/3rd of the straight...

I wish we were closer as this sounds like it would have been a FUN event. You guys have, after all, ALWAYS had a reputation for putting on a GREAT race out there! Nicely done!

Thanks Darin. We'll all get together eventually. It would be nice to see the lefties and the righties all together at one diabolical event. It will happen in our lifetime. I'm sure of it. MI is sort of in the middle. Just would take the right kind of event. We'll get there.

In 2005 we had that kind of thing. The heat racing that year was unlike anything I'd seen. Some classes you needed perfect heats and a hot time too. That race nearly killed me but the competition was awesome. Awe inspiring even.

I just want to thank to everybody that made it Canada guys and New Yorkers, it was great to see everybody again what a race, out of 11 classes there was only one or two that were locked up going into the last round. you had to push hard even in the last round, there were no free bees in this one, heck the last heat of Open cat I took a 2nd and missed the placement by 21 points and there was only 36 points between 2nd and 3ed. anyway it was a great race. and I had a blast cant wait until next year can you say full out Michigan Cup look out.

HAHA Fred, Dubay and I are already planning for next year. I might have to move in with you though. I know you don't have much extra room with that flock of yours. Might have to sleep in the dogs bed.

Already have a big list of ideas to make this the best site in the country. How to pay for it?............ I have no clue.

Hey, go big or stay home right?

No turtle. It was Aquaman. I was there...just nobody knew it.

Great info on a great race, guys. That place sounds like it has endless potential.

I call Ball Aquaman. There are pictures of Aquaman in the water with a life jacket pulling the retrieval boat back to shore behind him. He's just too tall for the retrieve boat. Once we knew he was okay we teased him relentlessly.

Ha! That "not so much of secret" didn't last long... We should take bets on how long before a picture of some sort shows up.... LOL

Nice Job Guy's. Site looks great. Was your course the 1/6 mile? Couldn't tell by the videos Doby posted.

My bud Jay takes the Sport Hydro class. Doby rakes in a bunch of wins. Mike Ball dominates OPC. Good stuff.

Jeff, Sean and I did the IMPBA District 4 race at Mendota IL. this last weekend and all I could think about was your race. Somehow next year we have to figure out how to avoid these race scheduling conflicts. Humn - maybe if I moved to Michigan?
