I have some orange, yellow & maybe red...

I could do a fade of red, orange yellow to white, front to back. Not very hard with spray boms. I like Tamiya acrylic lacquers.

Picked up orange & black today. I'll do the sponsons (4) in Orange + canopy, tub in black, bottom plain wood.
I have yet to try them but, these Molotow paints looks awesome. It will be really nice when they come out with the bright flourescents etc...

I might order some more before the sale is over. There are some colours not in stock I would like. Curry's art supplies in Oakville, Toronto etc... This stuff will paiint on anything supposedly.

Suppose to be able to paint in almost any weather condition too.

after more testing today on the lake i came across a few things that i beleive need to be addressed

1st - the coupler supplied would not tighten up properly onto the flex shaft but can be easily rectified with cutting wider grooves into the threaded end with a dremel and thin grinding disc to let the coupler clamp properly.(I have only tried the supplied coupler today as i tried a different motor in it but as the coupler failed the new motor didn't get a run)

2nd - water is somehow managing to get into the rear sponsons so I think another coat of west system resin on the inside as there are no gaps in the timber on the outside of these sponsons.

3rd - best prop sofar that i have tried was a 35mm 2 blade brass but i beleive that will change when i get new motor.

4th - motor mount is crap i am looking at a cheap way to rip it out and replace it with a different one but that might wait atm

and the other things i will be trying in the very near future

                  - New Motor mount
                  - Moving the front boom 30 mm forward and both booms down by a few mm.

but as i am waiting on parts things will be put on hold for a little bit.

For a hydro on 4s i would also consider the 4074 2200kv. Martin

A cooler on a 4074 might barely fit.

I would like to see how you (Bob) modify the boom position.

                      Thanks for the post Bob!

Im assumining a 4074 2200kv motor would fit as Steamboatbob had mentioned getting a 4074 2000kv motor & would assume he had measured the hull to be considering a 4074 motor, Perhaps he was thinking ahead of what motor to get before measuring what would fit. Martin.

while out at the lake today i was testing some motors i had in my bit and peices one of them was a RCS Swordfish 2600kv

brackets are what the leopard will be with cooling jacket
                          Can length was 69mm (74)
                          can width 45mm (47)

the cooling jacket is 50 mm long and definately will not cover the whole can but i will put it to the rear of the motor as far as i can and it should work well

so it is just shy of what the leopard motor is and i intend on changing the motor angle when i install it to lay it down a bit more and also move it a little more rearward but i shall see what i can change when i have all my bits
together in 1 pile and that is when i can be accurate.

boom position will be an easy change as i have access to a horizontal borer (horizontal drill press) at work and a normal drill press. so it really is just a matter of repositioning the holes and getting them to line up. but i will post what i will do and i will try to be accurate in my measurements and post them here for you guys.

Please Bob, if you can take pictures of it on the horizontal machine would be nice. I could find one I have access too...

The width with water jacket is my concern, not length.

The jackets are about 50mm wide and so is the inside Dim of the canopy.

it's workable, just giving a little warning.

yup just had a second look at that to make sure

Outside diameter of jacket that i have purchased the red type is 47mm but i'm planing on laying down the motor a lot more and if need be i can scrape a few mm off the inside of the canopy as it is reinforced on the outside and a very thin coat of epoxy will sort out the strength.

                                Cheers
