I like the outboard idea, seems it would be the easiest as you dont need anything else. Just something solid to mount the motor and servo to.
I have been using the fishing pole with Tenis ball and have a blow up raft for a back up. Fortunately I've only had to use each once. When I used the raft a recue rig wouldn't have been of any use as I got stuck on a rope for a roped off swimming area.Comment

Thought I would add my rescue rig to this thread to. I started this as a winter project, and have used more time and money then is needed for a rescue rig, but its a fun project to spend the time on. Not had it on the water yet, but getting very close to the first running test. This boat will be able to lift speedboats out of the water or pull larger boats. The lift rig is not started yet as I am waiting for more materials.
Building progress is posted on this forum: http://sunnfjordrc.no/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2850. It's in Norwegian, but the pictures says most of it anyway.
This is the current progress:

I am going to paint it red with a couple of white stripes, so it will not be to far from a North Sea paint scheme.
The plan for the future is to mount a camera with wireless connection to video goggles. I am looking at some of the FPV systems available for this. Also thinking of mounting a HD camera on top and use the boat as a filming platform. Think it will be nice and stable for this. A member of our club has a quadcopter he uses for filming as well, so we should be able to make some interesting videos together.Comment

The overhead and chase views would be pretty cool.Namba District 16

Shockwave 26 Brushless rescue boat
This is my rescue boat. It's a (Diesel6401) design so I can't take credit for that but I did make a couple of changes. I made the arms removable for easy transport, they screw on and off. And I used some Velcro to hold it to the boat that also keeps it all together when in transit.Modified Jae21, Stock Jae21, Cheetah, Ul-1, Shock Wave 26 V2 (Rescue Boat).Comment

Took my boat for a quick test drive yesterday. Its just the hulls, no lifting ready yet, just to test maneuvering capabilities. It worked very well, some issues ofc, but they will get sorted out. Adding some more flotation and maybe change batteries to lighter ones.
