Wow that mono was impressive. 83mph and stable.

Tony, Wished I lived closer. Could use your counseling services. Heck, at that rate it might be worth a plane ticket. What's your schedule like for the next month. Would you consider a trade for a burnt up Hydra 240.

To set a SAW record the boat must be legal in the class in which it is entered. Just like in oval racing, you can run the same boat in Offshore class and Mono class. You can run cats in hydro classes. You can run a Crackerbox in mono class.

To set a record you make two back-to-back passes through the timing lights (330 feet apart) and the average time in seconds is converted to mph. That's all there is to it, it's easy!

Tony, I tired to beat that record with LiPos, and I had several passes over 80 mph in 2008. The problem was my Schulze 40-160 would "lose" the Neu 1527/1D back EMF - at least that's what the Schulze tech told me, he should know - and shut down on the return passes. Very frustrating, but I'm glad the record was broken. That's what records are for after all.

Fluid, did you ever try going to a larger wire size and shortening the length as much as possible on the motor side of the esc?

OK back to the living after a busy weekend. My cyberstorm was set up for offshore with the rudder behind the prop and two turn fins. I had an 80 mph pass with this boat 3 years ago so I knew with todays lipos that more was in their. I was running a Neu 1527 with a modified X450 prop and thunderpower 30c lipos. I think high 80s is doable with this boat with a little time spent on the set up. I agree that running the same boat in two classes seems ridiculous but untill they change the rules I went for it in Q mono as well. I like the Idea that an offshore boat run a set up that can run back and fourth for 4 minutes but then it wouldn't be a very fast boat to watch or run for saws.

I also ran my FE30 but didn't get the props I ordered in time. I ran the boat with some props I already had but none of them were the right ones to break a record. I did manage to hop through the traps at 78 mph with a 645 prop. This boat will probably needs some lead in the back to help with the hopping and a much more aggressive prop but over all this boat showed me that its going to be a fast hull. I will be better prepared for the next saw event.
I showed also note that I did stuff the boat at over 80 mph which peeled enough of the tape back to sink it. Mark and Chris looked for it for 30 minutes and couldn't find it. I thought I was done. Then about 2 hours later some smoke started puffing up out in the middle of the lake. We now knew were the boat was and went out again to get it but the boat was suspended strait up and down so they couldn't grab it. I then ran down to Home Depot for some rebar and another pole and we made a hook with it. It was now dark and they went out a third time and found the boat. My lipos were all puffed way up and my controller was toast. I took the boat home and cleaned it up and was able to run it the next day. The only thing that happened to the boat was a small stress crack were my lipo sat in between the deck before it swelled up. I had more stuffs and blow overs the next day and the boat is still solid. This is the tuffest boat I have ever owned.

Final Record talley for FE records at the SAW's :

                        Tyler G. : S Offshore, T Offshore
                        Mark : Q Mono, Q Offshore
Rearwheelin' Randy : bumped Q Offshore but Mark bumped some more
"Hollywood" Bill : N-1 Mono ; N-1 Hydro ; Crackerbox ( with time/daylight running out, Bill almost had Evo - next time, Bro !)

Mark, Bill, Randy, Tyler, Rearwheelin' Randy and Brad put forth enormous efforts as racers, and should be applauded for their competitive spirit. Brian G. found the smoke genie with his Miss Geico but will apply lessons learned after his first exposure to SAW racing. I was busy helping : taping, launching, parts scrounging, and generally getting in the way. Lots of FE'ers showed up to support the FE contingent: Alan, Naveed, Brian, Mr "Sexy" UB-Hauled, Johnny & friend. I'm still tallying up Tyler's psychiatric counseling bill after his considerably unfortunate gremlin attacks.

The Grims did a superb job running the event, Kim's home-cooked lunches were scrumptious, and Mark and Chris went WAY out of their way to finally retrieve Mark F's lost boat, which was finally rescued.

Randy just checked out from Chalet D'Properchopper and is heading home. He WILL obtain a spare set of car keys I hope, after we had to break in to his Suburban at sunup Sunday morning to get his one and only set which was safely locked INSIDE the car [don't ask !] .

I have lots of vids to sort through & post after I get my day going.

                            Hey Tony,
I have contacted the Swiss Bank to release the funds necessary to cover my psychiatric conseling bill and soldering services. Although the Schulze gremlins were present and I did manage to get one run from each Castle Controller. They were good enough to set new S and T offshore records although just barely. I will have to formulate new controller/motor marriages in the future.

I suggest building a bigger corral for all the horses you'll need to buy the wife to preserve domestic tranquillity.

                                No worries Tony,

The problem is that bigger corral you speak of may be located in Michigan and then the # of horses may multiply like my FE habbit.

Conselling is going to get very expensive!
