I understand that there is some frustration with CC right now, believe me when I say that I have it too... but looking at the issue detached, the percentage of returns to CC versus a Chinese models I don't think can be compared... besides, have you (or anyone) tried exchanging an "El Cheapo"? I ask because I have not, so it's hard for me to say how their customer service is.
If you have, please share your experience.

I think the 200 amp rating is either optimistic under ideal conditions or it is for lower voltages like 4S. Like this one..
      " SP 200 Amp ESC
      • Compact 200 amp Brushless ESC
      • No BEC
      • 200 amps continuous
      • 68mm x 39mm x 23mm, 118g, 6mm bullet connectors
      • Handles 2-7 LiPo cells
      • Programmable LiPo or NiMh cutoff
      • Programmable brake
      • Low resistance

      $67.50

This ESC is a great match for large motors that draw up to 200 amps.

      170 amp Max 5S-6S
      140 amp Max on 7S

      Programmable features include:
      - Brake on, off, soft, medium, hard
      - LiPo cutoff 2S-7S
      - Auto NiMh (0.8V per cell)
      - Throttle setting: auto or 1.1ms to 1.8ms
      - Soft or hard start
      - Reversible
      - Soft or hard cutoff
      - Timing 1/7/15/30
      - PWM 8KHz or 16KHz"

Yeah, they make some pretty wild claims for their Chinese motors too. They told me they were just as good as the NEU motors. Riiiiggghhht!

i dont know what fets are run in the hydras as i have never had one
but the fets in the himodel/ mystery ones are fairchild who make a lot of electrical parts fets/semi conductors etc and usally good qaulity
a lot of the parts that go into a esc are only worth a few cents each
look at some of the 10 amp esc,s that are only about $5
i know some heli guys are buying small esc,s that have built in bec and using them like a ubec as the about a third of the price

The photo of the Swang esc looks a lot like the Mystery and Himodel ESC.
I would put a fiver down that says they are all the same spec and possibly from the same factory.
The QC on these is a lot of hit and miss. I have used and still use a few of the Mystery 200A units.

If you are going to push any esc to its max rated power then it very likely will sh1t itself. That is what max ratings are all about.
Spec your setup to 75% of the esc max rating and all will be a lot better.

I use a Swang, Mystery, SuperSimple ESC. I'll get a HiModel one day just to see how it goes.
The low cost Chinese units are fine as long as you appreciate what you are buying.....I do. !

i havent sent one back, but living out side the U.S the price of sending back a hydra is expensive, plus they exchange rate makes them more expensive to start of with
                i would cost me around $340 a.u for a hydra 240 shipped
if it got here and died on plug in how do you think i would feel having to spend another $40 or more to send it back
if i buy 2-3 mystery,s at a time its still cheaper and if ones a dud
then i havent lost so much, but out of the last 14-15 myself and acouple mates have gotten all have worked straight up

Scott,(ozzie-crawl) has pretty much made the case for us who use the Chinese ESC's
It is cheaper to take one on the nose as far as QC is concerned than to send a CC back.
In fairness I did send a Mystery back for replacement and a new one was sent to me.
As far as I can see ( I am no electronics tech) they are all pretty much the same.

Swang, Himodel, SuperSimple(HK) and I'll bet there are others by different names, if you surf e-bay enough.

Good ESC, fast shipping from some suppliers and for me that will be enough.

Let me ask you this, have you used it for a high stress situation, like a SAW pass or something similar? What was the result?

most i have data logged (my mates hydro) was 6s setup 160 amps under load
ran for around a minute or so at a time, esc was not water cooled
destroyed 2 motors on this setup, he still has the esc in a 32" cat running a 7xl
runs between 55-60 mph depending on prop
he now has a fan on it as he runs for between 1-2 minutes depending on prop

The Mystery that I have has done 105kmh on a 6XL to a X640 prop, I do not have a data logger but FEcalc tells me that I am up around 175A. It came in warm but not hot and this was not watercooled..
6 x 100m passes at the local Quarry. That is 3 left to right passes at 75% power and 3 right to left passes at 100% power.

I know this is not really conclusive evidence of the ability of these lower cost speedies, but for me it is good enough.

I'll keep using the Mysteries......for now

I am always open to new ESCs, specially if they hold their own, great customer service, great warranty at a good price... wait... I was dreaming...
only the part where I am open to alternate ESCs is real... heheheheh.
