Dont believe those eagle tree mph readings for a second, my spec jae21 was registering 78mph- put a real gps inside and got the real number of 55.3

I hear what you are saying. That is why I always play the recorded file. When you do "play back", it shows you how many satellites you have locked at each point in the recording (bottom left corner of the screen.) My play back on that run showed an average of 7-8 satellites locked... so the gps speed data should be pretty accurate.

I see that your speeds drop alot in the turns (as low as 20mph). If you can raise this number yourlap times would be really fast. Lap times are where its at.

hey Sean, when you put on the top deck did you put on the extra radius doubler thing on after you laid the top deck or how does that work?

I placed the top decking on and traced it first. Then trimmed off the excess wood prior to gluing it in place. The radius doublers went on last.

In the kit I recently bought I didnt recieve any doublers, I thought they shorted me but then I bought a used whip for the hardware and they didnt use any doublers on it so I guess they are not needed.

cut off front and epoxy on, then tape on rear section

on my whip 20 I cut off and epoxied the front the nose on and narrowed the rest of the hatch to fit down into a recess in the deck. I now wish I left the hatch full length its much easier to put the cells in the nose.
I left the hatch full length on my Whip 40 and I am glad that I did it is a bit of a pain to tape up though.

Thanks, i knew to tape the hatch down, was wondering about trimming the hatch to fit into the main recess, or create another to help lock in the cowl.

I cut out the cowl as per the marked line.

Then I had to incease the height of the 2 stringers so there was no gap. I used 1/16 ply sheet.

Once I had it fitted right i glued it on wit hslow set epoxy, the whole thing.

After it dried I carfully, slowly scored the FG with a carpet knife until it fell out.

This way I am left witth a perfect fit. Lastly I installed a lip on the inside of the boat for the hatch to sit on. OOps, I also added C/K to the inside, SPECIALLY THE SEAM!!

                                Fglass is good enough.

You might want to add support under that lip after, as I found out the hard way it will need a 1/8" sqaure block epoxied inside undeneath to keep the seem from cracking.

The extra 1/16" sheet was added to the front part of the stringers because it did not lay flat on them.
