hey guys, i'm new to model boats and i've got a stockish supervee 27 right now. I love the look of the hydros in the water, and have been searching for ages for a decent RTR hydro. I've been looking for RTR as I have no idea when it comes to installing the gear like stuffing tubes etc. I cant find any decent rtr hydros that really get me going. I like the vac u pickle Semi-Scale Atlas Van Lines Pickle-Fork Hydroplane, to me thats just amazing. So the wife said "OK then" so i'm going to shoot them an email. So its going to be sorry in advance for the dumb questions, but I cant wait to start this boat! Any tips on hardware etc will be appreciated!
    cheers
    Mike

That cowl was and nose piece was made by an amazing artist I race against. His work is really second to none. Last time I seen that boat run was it was a rocket!

That said, then I fully condone the trade! Much more fun and glory than some land-bound thrasher. GO FOR IT before its too late.

The cowling has been severly modified from the stock unit all done by hand, The best that boat runs on is a Nue 1509 1.5 D 2S2P y 537 prop, she will run very high 60s blinking on 70MPH in oval trim. that boat can be ballistic in the right hands. Thanks for the comments guys it was a fun build.

                      As I did also

I have a question for you sir........why did you put the rudder on the left as. ALl others I have seen are on the right like Smock and the Vacu site?

It really does not make a lot of difference on hydros, they seem to work about the same on either side, what I notice is how it will turn on the corners, With the rudder set behind the turn fin it turns a bit like a sprint car and kind of slides through the turn which for my driving style it allows me to hit the turns a little harder. I also used a less aggresive turn fin which helps with a sliding turn instead of a pivioting style turn.

What I have come to believe is this...

I believe both are very good info.
I said it before, I'm going to do it this time. Maybe a Poll about this topic.

I agree. BUT...it seems to handle better on my hydro with it on the same side as the fin. No blow out that I know of.

One other issue is how the rudder pushes the boat if on the left and how it pulls the hull around when on right. Not sure that makes sense but if on the left you can see how the rudder is driving the rear left side of the boat and possibly raise the right front sponson. When on the right it is helping hold it down and bringing the rear end around. The dynamics are certainly different...just wish I could say what I think

It's actually just the opposite... the rudder on the left actually helps to plant the right sponson in a turn... if the rudder is properly setup.
