And it's an easy way to epoxy everything in place with no binding or fighting the fit of the stuffing tube in the ski. Here's the stuffing tube centered and laying flat at the back of the ski.

Now I'm ready to epoxy in the brass sponson rod tubes, the stuffing tube and the motor mount before sealing the inside of the tub...

I'm really making progress on the build now!

The motor mount, the stuffing tube and the sponson rod tubes are in.

If you've built a wood kit you know what this means. The major components are epoxied in accurately, everything is in line and you're over a big hurdle. You should have lots of thing figured out by now, instead of scratching your head later in the build...

I also lowered the motor angle again, just before I started mixing epoxy.

I'm at 14-1/2 degrees and I'm really happy with less bend on the stuffing tube. It fits inside the bottom ski better too.

Here's the short piece of tubing for the easy change stuffing tube setup. Lowering the angle meant cutting the slot farther back. I've filled it with scrap plywood and a fiberglass patch on both sides.

I also filled in the former with a small piece of scrap plywood. Looks right to me, and I'm sure it's stronger...

Here's the motor mount with fiberglass and epoxy on the outside and a bead of epoxy only on the inside.

Here's the back sponson rod tube that I had to drill holes for and run thru the motor mount. That's due to the 100mm long TP 4070 motor and keeping the stock motor location...

And here's the front sponson rod tube. Note the extra length sticking outside the tub. So the locking collars don't rub the paint when the sponson rods flex...

Ready to seal the inside of the tub, finally...

                Yeah!

Looking great Sam, thanks for taking the time to showcase it all. I've been thinking of scratch building one of these for a winter project and its nice to see details of how they should be put together.

Nice work! I?m building a RSX380 and referring to your build for pointers. Thanks for the thorough documentation; it?s really helpful.

That would be awesome! I could think of a couple minor changes I would make... [emoji106]

Not a problem. That's a ML Boatworks kit right? Great choice...

I've started building the bottom ski. Here's my setup.

I'm using my homemade pvc pipe clamps...

Here's another simple idea for your builds, might not be my original idea. Tape hinge, spread your epoxy, flip the bottom plate over into place. No fumbling or mess.

                                Tape it up good...
