Long time since any updates! This tunnel is running awesome!!! It's been a ton of fun to drive! Today was a 43 degree day here in the northeast so I zipped down to the pond for a run and I finally bought a gps to record speed on all my boats and this is the first boat to try it out. I drove up the highway to test out the gps accuracy and it's spot on. So with a Grimracer 42x55 prop on calm water I got 45mph. My guesstimate for this boat was 37mph so I was definitely happy with 45 with this UL-1 motor!

Nice build!
Is the 30% center of gravity where you ended up for best handling?
Does the lawless drive put the prop farther away from the transom, compared to the stock drive?
Thanks for any answers you can provide, I'm currently converting a tunnel hull myself.Comment

I replied to your thread earlier with some info but I'll leave the info here too. My CG is right at 29% rtr with cowl on, the center of the propshaft is 3/16" above ride surface of the sponsons and it has about 1 degree of positive angle and the handling is unbelievable! I can do high speed turns with no spin outs, I ease a little off the throttle and the inside sponson drops down a bit and the boat just bites and corners. On the straightaway it has just enough air under it to get everything out of the motor and prop without blowing over, if I added another degree of positive angle it would probably blow off the water. It's a fine line of adjustment for these little tunnels but once you finally get it dialed in it's just so much fun to drive!! As for the Lawless drive, it ends up in about the same location as an OS outboard. Not sure about a K&B. If we get another decent day this week I will try to get some video of the boat.Comment
