Tj, If you use the spacers that come with the Cf trays you buy "off the shelf" you can tie wrap them bow to stern and port to starboard. A bit of a pain but if attached to the hull properly there not going anywhere.

The way I do my trays they will probably never come out. I mill the slots of course as you've seen. Then (wearing a mask of course) I sand them thinner to fit almost at the very bottom of the sponson. Then I rough up the tray and were it touches. Tack in place with super glue or some 5 minute epoxy. Then I use 30 minute hobby epoxy in a syringe and lay the boat on the side. Run a line down it nice and neat and also on the back side. Not sure if they would come out without ripping the hull.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

I prefer the way you do them to Travis. I do wonder why there aren't more choices out there for battery trays. I just got a set of MBP lipo sled trays in the mail yesterday for the fountain. They are nice and not to badly priced at $67 each. I bought them for there visual appearance as much as function. I had a lot of real estate to use up in the boat! I'll make my own in the future that can be sized to the boat a little better.Comment

I charged up batteries and went to the river yesterday with all my boats. I was only able to run my two smaller, slower boats. There was too much wind, waves and logs and trash in the river. They said it's usually not like that. I wasn't putting my rivercat or daytona in that mess. Would be asking for trouble. I had a guy wanting to buy the daytona but I never heard back from him. I'll try to get to the lake soon and get it dialed in soon.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

I am a little late to the party but: WOW! This is a good lookin' Daytona! If I could I would! If you don't keep it around I hope you don't sell it for less than it's worth (approximately $1 Million lol)! I am jealous...
Hmmm, seems I need to send you a boat soon...lolWhy are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

I want to update this. I sold this boat but never really got to line it out and get it running correctly. The fellow I sold it to took me up on my offer to line it out for him. I'm glad he did, I got it running much better. I found one issue was my control rod for the rudder was bending in the middle of the straight part. In turn it wasn't able to keep the rudder straight at speed. If I hit a ripple, the back end would wag back and forth, then flip. It seemed to be consistent over 60 when this would happened. What I did is made a thicker linkage and put a support in the bulkhead fitting where it passes through the transom. That did the trick. The fastest it ever went on 7s was 70.7mph. After fixing the steering and tuning on it, it did this on 6s!!!
I think the fastest it ever went on 6s was around 65. Picked up over 10mph. It's getting close to being in line with what my rivercat did on 6s (averaged 77-83mph).32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

I received the Daytona today and all I can say is AWESOME! The attention to detail and all the added touches that Travis does is amazing. After we agreed on the price I asked Travis if he could dial in the boat for me and replied that he would actually prefer to. He spent a lot of time trying different ideas and eventually got a top speed of 85.1 mph. Throughout the testing process he would shoot video and text me the results as he made strides to get it to handle better and get more speed out of it. I really can't say enough of the quality of this build and the the outstanding efforts made by Travis. I'm already looking forward to the next purchase from kfxguy maybe a twin cat.....hint hint.
Thanks Again Travis!Comment

Your quite welcome Steve. You've been patient during the time I took tuning it, even tho I was working on other things including my own stuff. I had a rough start with this boat. It's pretty finicky tuning it and getting the torque roll out, wagging at high speeds, flipping and simply not wanting to go fast. Steve sort of pushed me to figure this boat out (he didn't make me, but because I told him I would tune it for him, I did.). There were times where I just simply wanted to give him his money back, but then I realized I spent it building another boat lol. So I pushed ahead. I didn't want to disappoint him, I promised him 80 out of it. I had a hard time getting it to run as stable as I liked over 75mph. I could have forced it to hit the mark, but I could not send him a boat that was erratic and unpredictable. Not my style. I either deliver my promise or he gets his money back. So after figuring out some issues and making some small but very helpful changes, I got over 85 out of it. It handles better than I ever expected it to. I'm glad I took the time with it and figured it out. Very worthwhile learning experience. I posted the video in another thread but here's what it did.
