So you did run it with the throttle dialed up and got 100% on the logs?"There's nothing else I really want to do other than get up and build boats." - Mike FioreComment
-
No, when I ran it the throttle percent on the radio was at default 100%. When I checked the log, I'm pretty sure it said 100% but when I bench tested it a couple times (still at default, no changes from when I ran it) it only would go to 56% no matter what I did, until I set the end point at 150% on the transmitter and ran another log. The amp draw was 15 Amps at no load when I was getting 56%. This is with flex disconnected. Then when I changed to 150%, amp draw was only 5 amps. In the video I can clearly tell the motor was not sounding like it normally does, even tho I was on it momentarily.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

I ran to the lake for a quick test run. Had some issues. It did go faster than last time but it's not quite right yet. For some reason my stuffing tube kept sliding forward and hitting the collet. Then the boat like the prop adjustment up high. The prop was almost hitting the bracket do I'll have to make some mods there. The boat was running super wet and you coukd hear it in the motor. Max Rpm recorded in the Data log was 31,706rpm. Max current was 263.0a. Was getting full throttle. The rainbow effect on the end of my flex shaft leads me to believe there was considerable drag and heat right there because of the tube sliding up. Just gotta work the bugs out, sometimes it's a process. Funny how I can build boats for people and have no problems and I build one for myself and it kicks my butt! Well I guess I'd rather it that way because if I sent a boat out having issues like this, I'd be embarrassed lol! Well anyway, here what she once the Batts were drained and I was getting the strut closer to were it wanted but the tube was dragging. (Ran on 6s)

I need to add something to this build. After running it and starting to get familiar with this hull, it seem as if the prop likes to be high up. Well it'll hit the offset bracket. So what I did was cut the main strut brackets mounted to the transom shorter. This little bit I cut off, was just enough so next time I go run, I can move it up where it wants to be.
I just had to redial the holes and round the corners. I'll put it back together shortly and show pics of the clearance.
And here's a couple nice pics on the water. I won't paint it and put decals on it till its tuned in.

Wouldn't have figured an extra 5" would change things that much.. Is the bottom of that hull much different than the rivercat?Comment

BTW Travis, it looks real good in the water. I have seen many with the stern deeper down when sitting.Comment

It does sit nicely. The prop adjustment is total opposite of what a flat bottom sponson wants. I guess the boat runs lower in the water (well the very bottom on the sponsons because they are pointed). I'm gonna take some comparison pics when I get back home. Had to run get some red loctite. The bearings in my strut came loose with blue loctite lol.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

Here's the rivercat. ...
My theory is that the bottom pointed part on the daytona rides in the water deeper than the flat of the rivercat sponsons. So...when I set the prop depth, it throws me off thinking the prop on the daytona needs to be lower like the rivercat but in reality it needs to be higher because it rides deeper...I may be wrong but on looking at it, that's what it seems to me.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment

looks like that ruder might need to be shortened a little.. so the angled sponsens are to help with cornering ?Comment
-
I guess? I dunno but it does turn pretty decent. I may use a shorter rudder but for now I'll stay with it for stability. Btw, use red loctite on your bearings. Meant to text you earlier lol.32" carbon rivercat single 4s 102mph, 27” mini Rivercat 92mph, kbb34 91mph, jessej micro cat(too fast) wasComment
