    Carbon fiber cheetah build

Here's a cheetah I'm building for a buddy of mine. My knowledge and experience is ever evolving on these builds so of course I'll be applying that here. He wanted something fairly fast and that would turn and handle a little bit of chop.

    List of the main components:

    motor: neu 1521 1577kv
    Esc: castle hydra ice 240
    .187 flex
    Aeromarine coupler
    Servo: savox waterproof
    kintec motor mount
prop: start off with a 447/3
    6s to start off

    My favorite part...sanding. not!

I really like these new motor mounts. They are very sturdy and adjustable. Look good too!

    And motor and esc

This is going to be a sweet build. Do you have a speed expectation?

I like to reinforce the tips of the sponsons and the front of the tunnel for a couple reasons. One is to add a little weight toward the front to help balance things and the other reason is in case of a collision. My hopes are it will help it survive better. I mix in some carbon fiber that I chopped up onto the mix.

(I apologize in advance but I'll be posting some of the same pics in this thread and the daytona build thread. I'll still keep them separate threads but I'm building them at the same time. )

Not really. I'm expecting about 60mph out of it. I do have a fiberglass hatch so I will be able to gps it. It may go a little faster, who knows. I'm making an effort to keep it on the water at higher speeds. We will see.

Tracked the hardware. Looks like it will be here tomorrow. Good deal as I have Thursday and Friday off as well as the weekend, I should get a good bit done. Did I mention I have three of these back to back total to do? Lol. I guess sometimes when it rains....it pours haha

                Nice carbon work.
Three at once. That will keep you busy.
                Looking good.
                Cheers.

thanks! it looks like it has a snag in the right sponson, but its a step causing that effect. I also am building a daytona and a rivercat at the same time...so yea, i'll be busy..lol. I'm trying to juggle all this work, a 50+ hour a week job, three kids and a wife.....whew.. its pretty stressful!

I don't know how you can balance all that! I guess the next best step would be to eliminate sleep all together. It's obviously what is slowing you down:-D I'm looking forward to seeing that genesis roll out of the garage and onto the water.

Just got through reinforcing the transom. I ended up doing it differently than i usually do. My original cheetah I didn't reinforce at all. I never had a problem. I see why I didnt, it's pretty thick and looks like it had a layer of core mat in it. I put a layer of carbon and flooded it with 18g of epoxy.

The hardware came in. I tried to find what I needed here but it wasn't what I was looking for plus there was some other things I needed that only kintec had. I try to buy from both. The rudder was part number502b55 5 1/2" rudder and the strut is part number 503B40-A 1/4 Long Strut
Item# 503B40-A. It's for a .250 shaft but I'll make a bushing to adapt it to a .187 shaft. Or I'll just roller bearing it.

As for the strut. I had to do the same thing. I ended up use reducer bushing ( Octura Part number. OCTOC68RB which is the PROP REDUCER BUSH .250/.187. from Graves Rc Hobbies) that are made for converting from .250 to 3/16ths. Then you can use the Teflon bushing in it. On my set up I pushed the one in the back and then removed the flange on the second one for the front, but some lock tight on it and pushed it in. In the one pic where the |x| is is where the front bushing sets. Now I can run the 3/16th Teflon bushing in it. Looks to me you should be able to do the same, just push the front one in a little so you can get stuffing tube in the nose of it as well.
