I see you are using Millimeters for feed rate. Is the machine running in metric or does the post processor do a conversion to inches?

You have a good eye. I actually changed a lot of things including the nose length, windshield thickness, and the position of the cowl (more towards the front).

You're scaring me now. I hope I don't screw this up. Heading out there tomorrow morning. Where do you see mm?? My model is in metric, but I am entering feeds and speeds in inches/second.

Big four tube headers would look cool exiting cowl.
Here is what the clearance looks like with the stock motor mount and Neu 1515 1Y.

Wife let me play with boats all afternoon! This CNC stuff is worse than watching grass grow. The vacuum table mounts are cool until they slip and ruin your entire project after you have 2 hours into it. I think the cowl is too wide anyhow. All the 3D work I've been doing has an iso perspective and I've lost track of the width. I'm going to to pull one next time I'm up there and see what it looks like on the boat. Who knows, maybe it will look 'tough'. It's wider than the UL-1 by 20mm.

It should be bigger than the UL

That's true. I guess I forgot how much bigger this boat is. I'll work out the math based on overall size and see if it jives.

Looking sweet there Pete. I saw your work on display at a TechShop yesterday when I was there for Pi-Day

On post # 297 the picture says at bottom left 100mm/second which is about 4 inches per second. IF this is feed rate something might go crunch. If you have a block of styrofoam to do a fist test on it's better than trashing a cutter or more BUT, if you haven't changed anything since your last use of this software and maaterial, it should be fine. I just saw it and thought to mention it if by accident it was changed from something slower you may have used prior.
Sorry, I don't wan you to make second guesses because of my post, I'm just anal with feed rates since my first trial on a 10' x 20' router table ended with a $2000 cutter being destroyed and luck the rest of the $250,000 machine survived.

If you want better vacuum table hold down, place non porus thin material (like sheet aluminum .062"or what you can find) all around your piece so that the vacuum will focus more pressure on your stock.

Ray - I think my underlying wood was too small. Some of the vacuum chamber area was not covered. Live and learn. I'm glad you mentioned the mm/inch thing though. Turns out the shopbot only accepted in/s, so I had to change everything.

Larry - What display are you talking about? I had the boats sitting in the hallway to dry while I was messing around in the wood shop. Is that what you are talking about? Two white boats? Anyhow, why didn't you come see me!! I was eating pie as well!!

I decided to just pull a couple cowls in the basement here using the make-shift vacuum former out of an old fridge drawer. It actually pulled a lot of detail. Not happy with the shape. Going to cut another one.

Hulls are coming along great. Dry sanded again with 800 paper. They look pretty good at this point. Ready for top coat.

Well, I've seriously optimized this sucker. Amazing how much differently you do things the 'second time'!!! I angled the entire model to reduce the material height and the end mill extension. The size reduction will save a ton on machining time. Hopefully get this licked this weekend.
