Ok so back to building post lol. Got her out today and like 3 drops of water got in the entire full run I did.finally squashed those gremlins. I also made some small adjustments to the stingers and she pulled 56.5 mph on 4 cells today and didn't even look like she was goin 30 lol .now I need to find me some 5 cells .so if anyone has a pair they want to get rid of please let me know.

she is to the done and ride me point finally. feels good to get it to be dry inside lol. esc's and caps got hot esc's were 140 and caps hit like 185 but i was on it the whole time and ran batteries to 3.5v a cell.so it was a nice long run.the motors and batteries were about 120 which im ok with. im hopin with the 5 cells the esc's wont work so hard and the temp will drop a bit. ill be happy at 65-70 mph and she will be a really fun ,stable boat.

You'll pick up speed by cutting that rudder down. This hull doesn't need much rudder in the water. Keep up the good work!

            Sorry to cut in Joel,

Is that the 'scale rudder' Vin? You could probably take quite a bit from it if so. They are kinda bulky.

yes it is a scale rudder. i believe it is from kintec the 6" one. the blade is 4 3/4" from the bottom of the bracket.

I don't have that rudder here, so I can't give you an exact measurement. Here is my SAW Fantasm with the rudder cut down. Even at this length the boat turns pretty well. For sport use however, I would leave it a just a tad longer then this.

I have the rudder here and one like Joels(full length though), I will try to get a pic to go off of for you later today, perhaps it will help.

kfxguy the leak was from around the c/f plates that i added to reinforce the stinger mounting area. i went heavy on the epoxy when i put them in but apparently it was not heavy enough .i ended up epoxying all the way around the plate again on all the edges and added more around the stuffing tube also and bam fixed.

so if i leave it about 1" below the blade of the prop i should be good?

I checked what was said about cutting 1'' below the prop edge. I have a real problem with that. The factory rudder is only a 1/2 inch shorter than what your using. It is also narrower blade. Speaking of blade I run the same rudder that your using and I filed the blade so that it is a knife going through water I also polished it. Here is my boat that is the same hull and rudder. I did add a carbon fiber saddle the the hull were the rudder mounts.

I need to make a new one! It does cover what is being done though. He has a boat very much like mine. I added a carbon front bulk head and rear saddle is about the only difference. I stiffened the hull bay adding cross bracing also. This kept the weight down and still made it stiff like a surf board with the stinger he used it was a good thing he built up the mounting surface.

I use these and I really like them so far.

If the factory knows best, they why did you change anything in your Zonda?

Vince here is my Fantasm running with the shorter rudder. Not trying to set an oval record, but had no issues turning.
