Lake Zoar run
Hey;
My son and I were both grinning ear to ear. That was great fun.
To be honest I think we were doing about 35mph. I hope to get one of those little gps units for my birthday next week, then we will know for sure.
I am still looking for a camera man/woman for the next run.

Photos
My son and I both have digital cameras and his takes nice videos. He was too busy watching other boats and crossing wakes to take videos. It was so rough I was having trouble standing up so I could see the Viking.
I finally have the custom hatch about done. I'll send pix later. I am in New Hampshire on business.
see you later;

Speed trials tomorrow
After some Mystery in my life, my Mystery 200A ESC was malfunctioning, I think I have it working properly with the help of ED66677, Thanks ED.
I got a GPS for my birthday. I am off to the lake tomorrow to find out how fast, fast really is.
I have a hatch finished, except for paint, I will put it on just for show.
I will take the camera, but I don't know if I can do three things at once.
I will try.

Speed Trials
I went to the lake this afternoon with a charged pair or 4800 2s lipos. I put my new GPS in the boat, secured by Velcro.
I made a couple of loops and heard a boat coming down the lake moving right along. I waited for him to be almost in front of me and headed my boat directly at him. When I was close enough, I pulled along side of him, I was going just a little faster than he was. With a roar he went full throttle.
Gee, I hope he doesn't feel too bad about being out run by a toy boat !!
I managed to drive with one hand and take photos with the other, not easy to do. Below is a shot from today.

P.S. The GPS registered 30.1mph and as you can see in the photo the was not glass smooth.Attached FilesThat Viking www.How2RC.com PULSO

--Video--Video--Video
I know I told you I ran my Viking build boat from my son's boat on the lake, and you thought , yea right.
Here are a couple of videos from this weekend.
I am driving the Viking with a piston grip radio, steering with my thumb and running the video camera with my other hand!
My son Matt is driving the chase boat (his boat) with me in it.
Enjoy

Yeah!... How fast?Comment

It is a blast running like that, taking video at the same time took some of the fun out of it.
How fast ?
Just over 30 mph.
Kind of disappointing. I made a run earlier last week with the GPS on board and ran 31.2 on 4s, 2 -4800 Elite packs in series, for the video I put my new 3s 4800 Elite pack in series with one of my 2s 4800 Elite pack and ran the same speed??
AT the end of the video my boat slowed down so we retrieved it and found one of the cells in the 3s pack was puffed up and there was a hole burned through the pack wrapping where the red wire attaches. It was the very first run with that pack.That Viking www.How2RC.com PULSO

Faster and Faster
The Viking running 42.8 MPH on 5S on Oct. 11. Video on here;
In trying some different props I got 35.5 MPH with a X440/3 blade on 4S.
Today I tried a M447 and the GPS read 38.5 MPH on 4S.
I love running down the lake driving from my son's boat, chasing the Viking. This run ended in my Viking stuffing completely. The stuff broke the batteries free on their velcro and unplugged the batteries. That happened 3 times this weekend, the batteries unplugging thenselvs, not stuffing the boat. I am installing a battery box of sorts with tie down straps.

**Paint**
Good eye.
I was having a terrible time getting photos of the white hull at speed, the exposures were always off. Inorder to cut down on the glare I decided to paint her up. The scale hatch is done and just for fun Barbi and I went for a ride.
Before I painted the boat, I gutted the hull. Put in a pair of 1 1/4" 12"long rails on 4" centers the motor mount was designed for them, and it gives the interior structure ( order).
This weekend in rough conditions I managed to get the batteries to move forward, in spite of the velcro, disconnecting themselves, necessitating a canoe ride to retrieve the boat each time. To keep the batteries in place I made a couple of more rails and a bulkhead, and installed velcro straps. Lets see those batteries get loose now.That Viking www.How2RC.com PULSO
