great paint scheme, I like that a lot
for your batteries most of us DF33 user have a deck/sub-floor instead of just laying them in the vee.
this also will keep them dry in the event of a leak.
The Manx has been sitting dormant, but I think I finally have my motivation back. I hope to see it float soon.

      Fast Paint

Thanks Avanti; The next one will be a classic !
While running the boat in the lake this afternoon on 6S with X440/3blade, the .150 flex cable wound it self in two, between the strut and the transom, at about 46MPH.
I have a spare cable, so no big deal.
Any one have any advise on this problem ? Or do I just keep spare flex cables handy?

shorten up your strut arm to make the strut closer to the hull. there is a long bit of flexshaft out there only supported by the teflon tube.

or if you don't want to shorten that maybe you could add some copper tubing in between the hull and strut.

          unsupported

That sounds like a good idea, the gas guys around here are putting shrink tubing on the Teflon tube outside the hull. I think I will try the brass tube and shrink tube. The brass seems to be working inside the hull.
The flex cable looks like it tried to tie itself in a knot. there must have been an oscillation in the cable there. That would be bad for performance! OH BOY more speed!

            Faster Yes

            OK
the brass tube and shrink tubing worked fine, as a side effect it also stopped all that water coming in up the teflon flex tube.
This morning at about 49.2 MPH the flex cable failed just before the motor collet.
Wait untill you hear the sound it made on the video, as soon as I get it from my son.
I lowered the strut to air the boat out a bit for more speed and it was one wild ride.
And so close to 50mph I could taste it.

                Death of a 9XL

Here is the link to the video of the run Sunday morning, during which my Feigao XL9 got bent
I thought at first that just the flex shaft had broken. However when I got to work on the boat this morning I noticed a large wobble in the flex coupling, then I noticed that the end bell of the motor was part way out of the motor can. When I got the collet off the motor and got the motor out of the boat I confirmed that I have managed to bend the motor shaft
I am sure I have read in the forums reports of you guys having rotors stuck to the fridge, after blowing the coils.
Does anyone out there have a rotor from a Feigao XL motor, that they might be willing to part with ????
Any way here is the link to the vid.

do you have a pad keel? if not you might want to try it; it could help with the chine walk.

                      Chine walking

                      come on guys!
Have you seen this boat chine walking before????? NO!
I set the strut too deep trying to air the hull out for more speed. I aired it out all right but no more speed, just chine walking.

                      Hey Steve are you listening?
Can I get a replacement rotor for that XL ?

                          It sounds great.

Maybe it's the pic, but it looks like the prop could be adjusted so that it's parallel to the bottom of the boat.

But i'm not sure if you want to risk blow overs on the choppy water...

Next thing you should do is sharpen and balance the prop. That should be good for at least another 3 mph.

It also seems like you could go to a bit bigger prop cut down a touch to increase the pitch.

                            Speed

                            Hey Racer;
The operator and the blond are in front of a crackling fire, in the fireplace, wrapped in a blanket.
It is cold, wet, and raw, out there today.
                            Paint job photos later.

                            J.M.
If you are referring to the photo Avanti posted, it is an old photo.
I was running a M447 sharpened and balanced, I was assured it would get me mid 50's,with 6s, 4800mAh.
First thing I need to do is buy a new motor! And some new bearings.
I thought it was a temporary setup and bedded the stuffing tube inside the hull in RTV, figuring I would have to change the angle when I went to a transmission setup.
In the photo you can see that the RTV is ripped up, that tube was moving around in good fashion before the disaster. I won't let that happen again.
I have made up 2 new flex shafts, I think I am going to try a trans, lower the amp draw and get better run times, and less heat.

I would suggest a thrust bearing if you're running a direct drive set-up, and if the gap between coupler and the stuffing tube is more than a 1/2", solder an extension on the tube. as you may have noticed flex shafts need support, particularly under heavy loads.
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in
