working over my mean machine ....
Eh, reading back through this thread, I realize I've got nothing out of it lol
I'm just not learning anything from this one.
I mean I've been in here commenting, but mostly ignored or people don't like the way I come off, so I'm out. Carry on guys

The last time I ran ran this on the 4s parallel setup, the motor was pretty warm. Idk if it was a blockage in the button pickup in the ride pad., or if it wasn't flowing enough. I thought rather than chance it again, I would improve it. I hung a cf tube pickup on the strut, but the bulkhead fitting I had Isnt going to cut it on this thing. The rear bulkhead on this is 5/16" thick, so much for that idea.
I pulled the button pick up out of the ride pad, and threaded in the bulkhead fitting, then used my dremel to cut it to length and slash cut it turning it into a low profile 3/16" tube pick up. Since its located right behind the ride pad step. the water should follow right over it without causing any noticeable drag.
I also picked up 6' of purple fuel line from action hobby today, and replumbed the boat, & installed my Venom 5000mah 5s1p 25c cells in parallel. Now I am waiting for my 200A ESC. It should be here by Fri. - sat.Last edited by gsbuickman; 05-16-2014, 01:24 AM.Comment

Alright. I got out Saturday and got a video with the new setup.
It would have been a bit longer, but the battery in my radio died. the beeping you hear when I pull my boat out of the water is the alarm on my radio going off.
Overall once I started getting the hang of how it handled with the upgrade in power, she started moving right along pretty good

my MM with a Blue SV27 motor and carbon 45mm prop was a little faster than this..
this one should be moving out faster I would think....NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

Most of it, is the small pond I was at, and the camera angle. The pond is about 85 yards long & 45' across. Watch it move going away from the camera after I got a couple laps in. It was moving pretty good on bout 3/4 throttle a few times. Faster than the 35-40 mph traffic on the street.
I was having a hard time holding full throttle because it needs a deeper rudder with the higher power .. As soon as my 200A ESC gets here, its going for a 5s run on bigger water.Last edited by gsbuickman; 05-17-2014, 02:31 PM.Comment

best way to know its "true" speed is using a gps...
a gps to me is a big help in setting up my boats.... also run time vs amp draw
maybe its the settings in your esc not letting the motor run up all the way??
I would also try moving your packs back about 1-2" to help loosen it up more.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

Alright, I finally got the 200A Mystery ESC I ordered. I soldered uh p new 5.5mm connectors on it & got it installed w/ the Rx tray. I am having an issue with a cell in one of the venom 5s packs holding a charge even though I've never used them,, so I went with a single 5s setup for now.
I used industrial Velcro on the flat of the transom right in front of the servo. The balance point is nearly identical, it only moved about 3/16" foreward, but its still on the middle step, probably 32ish %. Now I need to figure out the esc programming. .....Comment

5s test run video....
Me any my Lil' brother went out to Julius Kleiner park yesterday with the boats. Here's a video of the first 5s test run in the mean machine. Its still running the 3674 2350kv mill, m445 prop & as venom 5000mah 25c 5 s on the mystery 200A ESC.
It defiantly needs a deeper rudder cause it's hella fast & nearly uncontrollable w/o a deeper rudder. The rudder on it is 4 1/4".

Sorry about that guys,I edited the video & made it public :-) .

After it torque/rolled & flipped over, it was completely full of water. We called it a day after we got it back in to shore. I split the shrink wrap on the ESC & let it dry out. After that it worked perfect. I replaced the crap thermal tape under the cooling block with thermal paste I use on my computer CPU's, then gave it a liberal plasti-dip treatment & let it dry before/reassembling with the original shrink & alumatape over the cooling block side. Now it needs an xl rudder.Comment
