I don't see where 39,000RPM is to high, if you look at the specs on most of these motors max RPM is in the 50,000RPM range. RPM IS GOOD!

Right on brother! The max on my castle motors says 60k rpm......I'm at 39k. ....where's the problem? I be only blown up one motor. It wasn't a castle either. It was built rather cheap. So what? I buy a new one...big deal. Does anyone here thing any of these motors are just gonna last forever? I dont. The motor I blew up was rated for 3s. I was running it on 3s (in my buggy) and the rotor came apart. Actually a little thin band of aluminum slid over the magnets broke and the magnets kinda expanded out of their slots. It was a 4000kv motor. 44,400 rpm (actually theoretically it would be 50,400 rpm with a full charged pack). Like I said, I'm really not worried about that rpm on a quality motor. Especially when I'm 20,000 rpm under its rated max.

Tho some motors are rated at 60,000, doesn't mean you should run them that high, esp in a boat. You should consider that a lot of these motors were designed for land vehicles which are geared down heavily. A boat is direct drive. There is far more load put on it.
Not to say you can't. Jmtc

              Yep.... Here's my new build....

I run a castle at 40,000 for sport too.

I've seen guys run upwards of 50,000 without issue tho. Others have destroyed their gear doing it.
I just try to stay in a safe zone

Lol. I'm not sure why some people trip on 40k rpm?

But I am careful and try to stay within the load specs. And if something blows... so be it.

Go check of the thread I posted. I want this stupid rpm myth thing put to rest lol. It gets real old real quick. I've yet to see some sort of failure at the rpm I turn. I can't wait to see how this thread turn out......lol

my mg24 had a leo 3300kv on 4s..... for about 3 runs!!! Then KABAMM. It WAS a $25 motor tho. I think that's part of the excitement of the hobby... not knowing what's going to happen. gotta say... pretty addictive!

Is this rivercat the same as this hull: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151281220617...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Gotta say, might be a bit cheesy but I like that paint scheme. was thinking about getting it but dunno if i want to do a ground-up. Or.... since it's a boat, a water-up??!!??

3300 kv on 4s is a little too much in a boat. It's no surprise that failed. That's 55,440rpm expected out of a cheapie motor. The way a cheap motor is made (ones I've seen) will allow the magnets to detach at high rpm.

That hull isn't the same as the rivercat. That ones looks more like a crappy copy of a daytona/genesis.

Lol. If you say so. It can/has/will be done with quality motors. Use a cheap motor and you can expect a failure. Don't stress about it....just try it. It's awesome to hear that thing screaming across the lake!

So where did you buy that hull for your project?? Looks like way more work than I have the time for.

I got a 3150kv motor from hobby king, says it will take 18v...... we'll see. Also have a leo 4065/2700kv that says it will do 5s. May have to queue up some more Deep Purple.

That is a cool paint job, Travis is correct its a bad copy of the TFL Genesis/Daytona hull... That motor Leo 4065, is for a smaller hull, wont do well in a 36" hull.. a 4074 2000kv or 4082 2200kv...A bit longer can will give you more torque and prop choices....DJ
