Hi Make-a-Wake. Would you happen to be scorpion1 on RCGroups? I caught your thread on this boat, and the video's. Added it to my collection of Dumas Scarab boats.

Yep, scale looking cockpit as close as I can get. Not an exact replica of the real KAAMA, but close enough for me.

          I have not been idle.

I've been working on my USS Marlin the last few weeks. Wanted to use my pool as a test tank before I closed it up. Working on a video for it now.

Last week I was going to run the KAAMA at our last club event, I was testing the 75MHz transmitter and something blew out, slight smell of electronics. Since it's already dead I'll have to open it up and see what I can see. Not totally dead, it does power on. Ordered a Spectrum DX4C which came on Friday. Came with 2 receivers for $99 and no shipping costs.

I worked with Shawn and he ordered an X455, he cut it down to 52mm, thinned, balanced and did a back cut. Nice looking! Big thanks to Shawn helping me out like this.

So now I have a new radio and prop. Ran the boat today, see the video. Ran great with the new prop and radio. No dead spots or cutting out like it did before. I have the antennae sticking out of a styrene tube. Not sure if I can tuck the antennae under the gunwale or not to hide it. As far as the prop, awesome. It cavitates staring out but it quickly clears and the boat moves out nicely. Runs really smooth. My friend Larry who recorded the video even commented how nice the boat runs. Although no video of the boat starting out. If the cars in the background are going 25 mph, whats you guess on the boat speed?

I did open it up a few times, usually on the close in pass. It was chine walking a few times. I do have both trim tabs down a hair. Sorry but I get nervous opening it up, not use to this speed, all new to me.

This is my last run for 2014. Stripping the boat down for paint job and detailing. I am totally happy with what I have. Not looking for outrageous speed and what I have is above my expectations. Can't wait to get her painted up, decals and detailed!!!

If you care to see the problems I had before, watch the first video, sorry it's a bit long... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clp37K9KD-M

Not sure of the speed. I'll have to figure a way to clock her. I'm guessing 50+? Could get an App for my iPhone and give that a go, next spring.

              I'm also Ken_NJ on RCG.

Very nice Ken, Huge improvement from last time! It's amazing what a good radio system does. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see it in paint. I'm sure that's gonna be one of your winter projects.

Looking good Ken. Prop moves it out well. I think that is all the diameter you need by the slight rocking of the hull. You'll get that settled. All temps were good at part throttle runs? She is gonna be nice all detailed.

Thanks Shawn. Did not have a temp gun, the motor and ESC were slightly warm, nothing to be concerned about. Water was flowing through both ports. Gave myself a goal to get it done by the end of the year.

Since its submerged drive have you considered more pitch and less diamter, this may eliminate the rocking you get. I had one submerged drive boat and it did better with less diameter and more pitch. "If" the boat were mine I would target putting an x646 or even an x648 on it. I bet it would settle way down and pick up more speed as well.

The boat will be apart for the next few months as I try to make it look like my avatar. No more plans to run it until the spring. GPS, not sure, would have to find a way to use my iPhone to check the speed, have to find the right App. Risky putting my iPhone in the boat though. Prop, I was very happy with the performance I had in that last video. I'm not looking to go any faster since I'm running this for sport and will be my only FE really. Still shaky about opening it up all the way.

Nearly finished up on my USS Marlin submarine if anyone is interested in watching a build video that is 1/2 hour long.

I never found suitable figures as drivers. The ideal figures would be Nacscar drivers in white overalls with a helmet that are 6-7" tall.

Now I am going into new territory here, never did anything like this, making my own figures. Nobody around to ask so tell me, are these looking like they have potential? I only need to carve out the general shape and figure out what to use as a suit and life vest. The heads will be helmets so no need for a face. They don't look like much now so use your imagination.

LOL, it does, they have been carved down since those pics. Well, Betty Cook is a female driver.

This is not an easy thing to do.
