I prefer not to destroy things if possible, that's why I have too much stuff! I put the battery end on top of the vice, used a brass rod n hammer and just punched each one out. Worked great. Unsoldered them and all bagged up for storage. Already have the 5.5 bullets soldered on, Sunday will do the charger wires and the ESC ends.Last edited by Ken_NJ; 07-20-2014, 01:33 AM.Comment

On the second outing with my Blackjack I ran in a smaller area of the lake. Had a slight accident. Was not going to take pics of the damage, did anyway.Comment

Can't find the pics of stripping the damage and the body work I did, so jumping onto finishing. I used Evercoat Glazing putty for the outside repair. Lots of sanding and filling until I got it right. On the inside reinforced with G Flex and FG cloth. Rolled the G Flex around inside to get coverage. I tried white Krylon Fusion to repaint, was not the same white. Bought a can of Krylon Bright White Satin, that came out close. Didn't have gloss.Comment

I called Horizon about blue paint, they had no info about it. Found an old 1/4 oz bottle of Testor's Metallic Blue. It matched pretty close, bought a new bottle, masked off the stripe and sprayed with a cheap Badger air brush. Decal set from Horizon is 20 bucks, I'll pass for now. A replacement hull from Horizon is $179. Next accident I'll probably have to trash the boat. Ran it two weeks ago, like nothing ever happened, ran great.

The setup guide that comes with the Swordfish is crap. Question about the anti spark wire.
first connect battery negative to the ESC
second, touch the anti spark wire to the battery positive
third, connect the battery positive lead to the ESC
Right?Comment

You solder the little pigtail onto one of your batteries pos. and hook it up before the main pos. Like this (1)Neg. (2)Anti spark pos. (3)Main pos. you hook the Anti spark up not just touch it.Last edited by flraptor07; 07-26-2014, 06:37 PM.Comment

Battery tray. To me this seems better than using Velcro and feels more solid. I can adjust the tray to change the CG. Can step it forward from this point in 3/8" increments. Have to check but pretty sure I have to move it forward 3/8 to get the boat at 29%. It's made out of mostly Luan and some hardwood coated with Polyester resin and Fusion white. If replacement batteries are a different size I can replace the spacers.Last edited by Ken_NJ; 07-27-2014, 10:08 PM.Comment

The CF mount for the ESC was too small. Didn't like Velcro again. Like everything else I've been using, had this aluminum angle stock around in the shop. Cut & drilled for a new mount since this ESC is huge. Even made a bracket for the switch. I'm being careful with those battery ends.Last edited by Ken_NJ; 07-27-2014, 10:10 PM.Comment
