I am sorry for your trouble with the etti......to say it's a dangerous controller is not an accurate statement. I see a few things with your setup that probably all contributed to the burning of the etti. I have ran them for years next to my top of the line controllers ex. Schulze and mgm. In some setups I can honestly say that I like them more. Second the etti and mgm are the only two esc's that never quit on me. I have used almost every brand of controllers out there and will keep recommending the etti. With the etti 220 i ran them in boats from speeds of 65 mph to 100 plus mph at all kinds of voltages. The etti 150 opto is a tough little bastard as well.

Interested to know what caused this. An esc doesn't usually catch fire on its own.....was it over propped? Maybe something binded up?

Edit. Noticed your running 8s and turning over 41k rpm. At that rpm, prop size is pretty critical.

You are right, may be. We have 4 of 4 ESCs on our forum, what was fired at unclear reason. My was last of them. We have a breaking series, may be, or we have a breaking arms, but fact is one - all of Etti 220 HV was fired.

I was drive with Octura x645 prop. This prop was used many times ago without any problems.
I have a three reasons what caused this.
          1) It was an overheat (i don't understand how, but it is can be a reason, i always have not more than 50-55 degrees)
          2) It was a short circuit at the ESC body
          3) It was a some errors at the settings (Etti has a not easy setting up property, but i was do this one per two weeks, i don't trust to this reason, but it can be)

Thank you. Most are ok. I have a three little cracks at the cap of the hull and some fired battery connectors. And i have a big bad smell from the hull :) It is all.
ESC was buying and boat will be repaired shortly.

Do not run a flier.... you will really have a problem.....I know more people in one year that burned a flier then over swordfish, etti, and seaking put together. I am telling you from experiencethat if you are burning an etti 220 there is an underlying problem, and with time anything is going to burn. There is a slim chance I mean very slim that you got a bad controller.

Thank you for the advice, but this ESC is already at road to me. I will try it very careful. Why i was chose the Flier? All guys, who was burn the Etti run on the Flier ESC and very happy from this.

We are have an idea about Etti 220HV what shipped to us, it was be a defected party of ESC. I was not hear any bad response about Etti, but 220 HV and only it was fired many times at us.
Will see on the water what is a Flier. MGM ESC will be third

You have a beautiful boat here just be careful I don't want to see anything happen to it. The thing with the flier is that it works perfectly for about 15 runs and then aplease of a sudden quits on us. It's a good esc while it works. I myself use mgm and I have not one bad thing to say about them. They work flawlessly and Martin at MGM is awesome to deal with. We spoke several times on Skype to help me set up correctly as there are a ton of parameters to u can alter. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes, you are right. Will see how it works. I know, Flier needs some modifications before use. First of this is full waterprof.

you better seal the cooling block better. they use a weak sealant that loses its seal after several runs. then it leaks water on the fets and....
