And as for this weekend, As mentioned before I predrilled just about everything before paint. Im still uneasy with building it this way (paint first) especially when it all ended up for nothing.

Anyway, I temporarily mounted the drives and marked center for the tubes and drilled the stuffing tube holes. I started with a center punch, then a 1/8 bit and then a step bit. I had to lightly finish it off with a small arc file and the tubes fit nicely.

May get more done today. Family in town and its tough to find time.

Yep... i put a small knick in it this am. Brushed the nose of the drill against the support that runs from the overhang to the sponson transom. Very minor but upsetting.

Cover it in 2" masking tape Scott. It will cost you maybe $1 and keep the paint happy while you move it around.

Little progress between last night and today between jobs. Motor mount and stuffing tube on one side are tacked in place. Kent (Nata2run) sent me some nice looking stuffing tube supports. The upper support that physically holds the tube was actually just a fraction of an inch too tall on its own. But I wanted the screws in there just for the detail factor if nothing else. So after a few modifications with the dremel and the belt sander it fit perfect as the intended two piece holder.

Ive been doing almost all builds the last two years with no liners in the stuffing tube and using the appropriate sized tubing to run without. The motor end has a 3/4" long step down that will hopefully help to keep grease in and water out. typically I leave that out and run a vinyl cap on the end with a hole in it for the flex to come out, but a club member does his this way and has been successful so I figured id give it a try.

That looks cool dude, What I do is brush some epoxy over the supports after its in place. Helps holding the mounts/pieces plus gives it a bit of look. just lightly brush over the screws and everything.

because its a 2 part, you can adjust the height between hull and stuffing tube. Once measured and set, you simply tighten the screws to hold in place and epoxy :) like this, but a newer version

If you grease them after every time out, you'll never have a problem. Lots of us don't use liners, you have to use the proper size tubing too. And I also use a long bushing in the top end too.
