Primer, sand, primer2 sand, base coat, sand, base coat2

Finding days to paint around here were next to impossible. It took me 1 month to finish painting. 50% of the days were rainy and even on good days I dealt with flying cotton balls and dust/dirt from the street being redone. The only time to paint outside and still carry a full time job was near dusk and early early morning (no wind). I was going to wet sand and clear, but the finish turned out 'good enough'. Even for black, the paint flowed well and has a decent finish. Very impressed with klasscote. ...and yes I know it will be difficult to see. Have to had some bright decals.

BTW - The font for 'The Black Pearl' is the EXACT font used from the movie. I found it online.

Thanks! I still need to add 'WELL....SHIVER ME TIMBERS' to the bottom.

Added 'Chasing Booty' to the back as well.

I ran it yesterday. Only 60mph. I'm going to bump the timing from 10deg to 15deg and see what happens. Otherwise, I'm going to get spanked next weekend. Currently running an X455. Tried an H-18, but it planted the nose, even with the strut way up.

                More testing hopefully on Saturday....

                  I was running a 460 on a 240 amp controller, same motor 18 pound hull 180amps on E/T.

Thanks. I don't have a 460, but I do have a Prather around that size. If the lake calms down I will give it a try today.

I tried a prather S245 today (57mm). It's actually 2mm larger in diameter than the X455 and higher rated pitch too. It still resulted in the same speed...about 60mph. I've been noticing Prather props to have 'less bite' than Octura X series and ABS H series (i.e. I usually have to go up 2mm in diameter on the Prather props to achieve the same speed with an X series Octura). Interested if anyone else has experienced this.

Going to try an X457 and possibly an X460 next.

I tried the 457 before the race last weekend and it was pulling around 200 amps average with 240 spikes!, so I stuck with the 455. For the second heat I ran the S245 with material removed from the hub and somehow gained a couple mph. I'm only using a max speed gps, so who knows how accurate. Anyhow, I took (2) 2nd places. Unfortunately, I carelessly let the leads touch together before the third heat and fried a battery. 4th overall. Not bad for the first outing I guess.

jcald - Not sure how you are running that 460 prop. More power to you if you can do it. My boat doesn't seem to be plowing, and everything spins freely. Not sure where the extra amp draw is coming from.

I have noticed the same thing about Prather props. All of my Octura props are heavily detounged which drop the load.

                            Are you De-tonguing the props?
