Got to the point I decided to try and make some bullet-proof drives. Similar to the click drives. Not trying to copy but its a good platform for ensuring drives. And I will be able to hone my skills for the upcoming winter builds.

These are going to be the driveshafts. 3/16 cable will be loc-tite(ed) to the stainless steel shaft. They are 5/16 stainless shafts that will be slipped inside a full bodied brass housing cross drilled for grease slots. That will be housed inside aluminum stinger. Brass bearing another words. The brass will be cheep and easy to replace. This is the first time I've had the pleasure of working stainless. Now I know experience is something I wish I had. Slow and lots of coolant!!! (I actually did read up on how to machine stainless!!! Usually I mess up then read the directions!!!!).

Yea I know!!! For those motor heads its something like 720-740 watts equates to one horsepower so that's like 9hp!!! Per side!!! Almost twenty horsepower!!!! And I'm still on the original set of neu motors, one esc burnt but that was from broken cooling line. I have been very gentle on the throttle and have the throttle ramping setting on like 50% (it should limit power to motors to a slightly gradual flow instead of as fast as you can pull trigger. ).

Nice Cooper. Getting away from pre-made/soldered shafts will make a big difference.

Are you bringing her to Flint in a month? It would be great to see you there. I'm always willing to help in any way I can, whether it be loaning out some props or taking video while you run. There is not much of a FE representation there, so you would add a lot to the event.

Keith, I'm going to try but I don't know as of yet, I will have to make it a couple day excursion and lately free time has been scarce. But still shooting for it.

Still up in the air about a winter build, but thinking hpr, 45" somethin.

Here is some ruff mock ups of a more stout stinger. It still has a lot of work to be done but should be a lot more secure.

Well I'm back to it, got some time to get things rollin again. I still need to profile the bottom of the mount, it sticks below bottom of hull and was going to try and keep with the bottom profile curves and some extra holes to lighten it up some. Need to sand and polish it up also. The weakest point on these is going to be the stinger mount end, where it connects to the hull. It is the thinnest part to still be able to have it adjustable. And I kept with a 3/16 flex cable. I've been easy with the throttle and haven't had any problems with cables breaking. So if I bend these adjusting pins ill give up!! Lol. One way or another this boat is going to be pushed to its limits!!!

Got the new stingers on and ready to test. I was a little paranoid about something happening resulting in loosing one of them so that is what the thread attached to them is. Kinda like safety strap.

AGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! After bench testing and double checking everything I taped up and dropped her in the water. Went about 25 feet and she started acting weird, like loosing signal. Was working intermitten but I was able to steer her back to shore. Put her on the dock and everything was reacting like it should. Was confused and rather upset as I was looking forward to testing these new stingers. Only had it set up on 7s so nothing being pushed, just wanted to make a couple laps and bring her back in take the drives apart and inspect,,,,,, Looking over the boat when she was laying on the dock I noticed the unsheiled part of the antenna was missing. Hummmmmmm, wonder how that happened??? Guess the last 30cm of the antenna looked like something to play with then EAT!!!!!!! Yes I suspect the damm cat! Well he is going to be mad shortly!!!!! After I shave his tail!!!!! So back to dry dock for a bit.

Thanks! I know why the click drives are $4 bills+. A lot of time and effort into them, like I said before if these don't hold up I give up.

Just brought her back to shore after repairing antenna wire (I could skin that cat!!) and even though I only ran on 7s I really laid into the drives from dead stop. Tryied to punish them and the loctite and drive held up. They should only get better as the brass and stainless spin they will polish each other. I ran some high temp brake caliper grease, heavy and stickey, but figured it will hold up with the friction. I don't think it will matter as long as I keep them lubed often. Sometime after work ill work on posting some speed runs.

+1 on the drives, and the extension in aluminium adds to the sickness! Nice job! Really like how they turned out, lets hope they are as tuff as they look
