Yea , no news is good news!!!! The hatch bolts,,, ya know I think I still end up with button head Allen's . I just slip a neo washer under em and they are more sleek. I was able to slip a oring on the underside of them on the shocker, then when you took off the hatch they stayed in the hatch. Yea, the Allen's require a tool, knurled don't,,,,, what to use? Uhhhhhhhh many many decisions!!! So how's the Komodo runnin? You have any water your way? I'm leavin for the Dominican today, will have lots of warm water around!!! Hey get the mods at kbb to get tapakalk for iPads on the forum. I can't get close to the laptop (wife took it over- I got iPad)

I just got my rudder cables yesterday so should be able to get it together tomorrow AM. Have the weekend free so... Should get out.Unless I end up doing stuff on the new place. I'll try to talk to Joel for ya at KBB.
I'm paying attention here as I do have all the gear for another SAW build or the Shocker revival(or both).Depending on time and such as there is a new GF in my life now (supportive one to boot).

I have looked into Tapatalk for the KBB Forum but it's not offered at this time. I do use the site on an iPad without issue though, and they just launched a mobile site for phones that works really well. Keep up the awesome build sir, looking good."There's nothing else I really want to do other than get up and build boats." - Mike FioreComment

I use the thumb screws in case I have to open the hatch in a hurry, although the buttons heads do look better and if you had a small cordless drill, you could probably open it fairly quickly also.

Some mistakes are about to happen but I'll keep with the sequence of events
Applied two coats of high build primer. And this is the base coat.

Ok the first of two mistakes, I was hanging the hull with wire. Apparently I had used the wire too many times before and it broke. I usually have an old dog bed under anything I hang. I was eager to paint as I'm not a painter and was anxious to try something new.

I mixed up some epoxy and used milled fiberglass and micro balloons to make it a bit easier to sand because I had to put it on pretty heavy to get the original contours.

Ugh sorry that happened bud. Base coat does look nice and after you've fixed the cracks you'll have something that looks better than it did from the start (as with most things when you direct all of your attention to a small flaw or blemish).Comment

New wire this time!! And when it fell I grabbed it with the gun and my fingers creating more areas to be fixed. That is what the white paint is, the yellow needs a white base.

Hey iride, yea it was really frustrating when that happened. I'm new to painting. All my past stuff has been just rattle cans and simple one color. I did try and educate myself (some) on proper painting with spray guns and higher quality paints. Something new to learn, sometimes it's fun to learn, when its something I like!! More to come on the learning curve!!

So,,, this is what I had in mind, it's just the start. Now I did use the proper primer, and I am using waterborne paints as it is more attractive for me to use in my situation (fumes and ease of clean up)
