Rescue boat build, springer pusher with underwater fpv and recovery

Worked on brushed dewalt motor selection. I found out why the drills were on the crap pile. The 18volt shinny good looking motor that I was going to use, when I wired it up to test the thing spun up to ? Like 80,000 rpm's and was throwing sparks and smoking ! Thought that speed controller was definitely the problem as it came from a blown up setup. Kept trying to find problem but couldn't. Switched to the 14 volt motor that the brushes are gone and it ran fine. So ended up cleaning up the other 18volt motor. ( already got in trouble for cleaning the motor in the ultrasonic jewelry cleaner-yup gonna need new solution). Re wired the brushes and tested. All worked and now have the electric mostly done. I'm using the newer 18 volt dewalt brushed motor but will be running it on 12 volts (3s lipo).

This is the wiring loom. (more like bird nest). I'm using a turnigy 9 channel stick radio as I'll have more channels for other options/switches.

I pulled the heatsink off the Novak speedo and fashioned a new water cooled heatsink.

Started working on the steering servo assembly. I have to drill mounting holes and glue the wood down. And going to make both push/pull linkages.

It 22-1/2" long by 11" wide. I made it 30 percent bigger than the compitition plans call for.

The "eyes" came in the mail the other day. Going to start on the underwater fpv setup. The only thing I'm unsure of with these small cameras is the amount of light they need to give any quality to the picture. I'm planning on using this in the river where we run. The water is usually crystal clear. The depth where we run is mostly 2-3 feet and farther out where I run the saw boats it gets to be 5-10 feet. This is really just a novelty but I think it's going to be pretty cool. And I'm hoping to be able to see some of the fish. Rc boat fishing is pretty fun too!

I had some time tonight so I started work on the camera housing. The lens is moulded into the lens housing so I'm using that as the water tight seal. There will be an oring as a gasket. And I still have to drill mounting holes and set the proper angle/curvature of the hull so it will be somewhat flush with the exterior of the hull. I'm mounting this at somewhere around 45~60 degrees facing down/forward.

Well preliminary testing with the camera housing didn't work as planned. Soi decided to go with my original idea of a portal. I'm probably not going to cut the portal window until last. And I found a use for that angle attachment for the dremell. The portal will be a replaceable piece of lexan moulded to the curvature of the hull and bolted with a gasket. That way if the window gets scratched up it can be easily replaced.

Installed rare earth magnets flush with the deck and superstructure. A thin layer of foam will ensure a watertight seal. The smokestack will be the access for wires, lights whatever else I can think of.

Coated the inside of the hull with finishing resin. And a light sanding as this is going to be painted to brighten the inside up when deck is installed.

Just couldn't wait until last for the paint. It's just the primer coat on the superstructure and flat red on the hull.
