I would take your time and fill and drill for the right hardware,
Will be better in the long run all around and better cooling to.

Remember the big speedmaster rudder does have the twin cooling pickups................

The holes are small. What is procedure to fill. I am getting ready to put 1/16 light ply over the composit doubler and am CF/Kevlar the hull with west epoxy.

Do you have the 4" bracket in your hands? Reason I ask is that if the hole patterns are so close to your drilled one, you might want to go to 3/32" ply wood. I personally would prefer that thickness and especially if the holes are in close proximity.
As for filling the holes: here is what I did when I redid a BJ 26 transom, I taped the outside holes first with plain black electrical tape. Mixed the West Epoxy with their heavy filler (404 high-density addhesive filler), cocsistency is like peanut butter, filled the inside holes first, let cure, place ply reinforcement and epoxy again. When cured, pull tape from outside and again do the mixing with filler until it is like putty consistency, fill out side holes.
In any case, you only have the holes for the rudder bracket to fill, might not be as intensive as my BJ 26.
All this means is your patience to wait for the epoxy to cure. if you tap the reinforced transom the sound is like a brick!

Thanks for the info. I should have my west epoxy and CF/Kevlar early next week. The rudder probably will arrive about the same time. Unfortunately I'll have plenty of time got released yesterday from my job.
On a more positive. Ote all the parts are on the way so I can complete this project.

It is kind of nice being off of the road, but that will go away as the checks stop and bills do not. Build will continue as soon as the epoxy and CF/Kevlar arrive. Everything else should be here by the time the epoxy is dry:)
We also are finally getting some rain so the lake is coming up.

Received my Kevlar/CF, West epoxy and Rudder today. looks like tomorrow will be a full day.

Kart, what does the footprint of the rudder look like.................does it line up at all with the existing holes? If its not close you can simply epoxy some ply behind it inside the transom, fill the holes, and redrill.
