I just did a dry set up. Everything lined up great. I am however going to mount a piece of 9/32 tubing and do as you said. Waiting for my turnfin and some 1/16th carbon fiber sheet for my floatation voids. What are your thughts on placement of the ESC?

My first thought is keeping the proper CG then keeping the wires as short as possible. I would suggest placing it sideways between the motor and batteries. It might go through the cutouts but that way the ESC can be secured. You can place it on top of the batteries if you have to, but should be secured along with the batteries if it should happen to cartwheel. Will there be enough room to clear the hatch if its on the batteries along with a battery hold down?Comment

When buying the mount you have an option of buying the alignment tool with the mount. For a couple extra bucks it's worth it. Lines up nice and good. And pretty much friction free. Thanks for following the thread and giving me the much needed advice. I appreciate it.Lakeside entertainerComment

I love both of my super sport 45's. They're still nitro but the one ive raced for almost 4 years is still one of the fastest in the district. Can't wait to go back racing full time. Waited too long for the VC turn fin. So I ordered 2. This one is from Zipp Manufacturing. Bracket weighs in at 2.2 oz. And the fin at an even 2 oz. My question is, this was sold as a gas fin for boats over 40". Will it work or is it too heavy? Do I need to add weight to the other sponson? Still waiting on the Blazer turn fin. Epoxied in a piece of 9/32 brass tube as a sleeve for the 1/4" tube. Epoxy is drying. Have motor mounts made and will epoxy them in tomorrow. Picture of that will follow.001.jpg002.jpgComment

I have both fins, one made by Mike H. which looks like the one in your picture from Zipp Manufacturing. The other made by V.C. that I run on my hull now which looks the same as the one Blazer sells. Both are suggested by Phil if I remember correctly, but not having tried the one as in your picture from Zipp I don’t know what the difference in handling is. I know that the one in your picture is longer and has less of a curve at the bottom than the one from Blazer. Phil might be able to answer what the difference is in the two designs.Comment

The gas Zipp fin would be too big. MIGHT work if it was cut down some.
You have the setup sheets, there is a picture full size of the proper turn fin, compare what you have to that.
Tyndalls are great and first choice.
I am working on another supplier for my turn fins. Dave Preusse CDMachine can make any fin you want, email cdrace@rocketmail.com and he does race FE boats.Comment

Try an easy out should come right out for uFlipping my bracket and rudder to the right side of rudder. Friggin set screws stripped. They were very tight. What's the secret to loosening these without stripping them? No machine shops close enough for me to have them drill the set screws out and re tap them. $40.00 down the drain.Comment

Phil those boxes works vary good I use them on my gas boats didn't think they was offered for the smaller 1/4 set ups and easy to set upThose aluminum boxes are too much work to line up i would think. If you install the box before the motor mount how is it lined up perfectly with no friction?
I always get the strut mounted and the motor mounted then cut a slot for the tube.
I just use a short tube one size larger that is glued into the hull, the shaft tube can slide into that and be removed with out messing up alignments.
With the shaft up thru the motor collet, using a short brass tube shim that fits on the cable and into the shaft tube the alignment is done. I tack in the tube with ca then tape up the slot on the bottom and fill good epoxy.
IM sure your setup will work ok, just more parts to line up.Comment

Try standing the batteries on their side . This way you can get them up front more. I wish I thought of that wing setup. I would have connected the nose and sponsons to keep everything from cracking on me during the blow overs.
Phil I didnt know if you ever found the video I told you about so here it is at 90+. Bad sun glare but injoy your great hull. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvi9KIth-kgPT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
