    Phil Thomas Supersport 45

The hull arrived today. Only thing missing is the Virginia Craftsman turnfin and Dick says it'll ship soon. The info sheet Phil sent with the hull is very helpful. Plus Ken (his SS45 is one bad boat) has gratiously offered his help. Bought a Peter Z motor mount. Motor is a Neu 1527/1Y/S/8mm. ESC is a Fightercat 300. I plan on laying out all the hardware then sending it off to Doug for paint. Also not pictured is the Redline Motors stuffing box mount.

Looks like you got a good collection of parts to start off. What lipo setup are you planning on? 8S1P or 8S2P w/5000mAh I assume?

The hull looks great!! I like that Phil added reinforcement between the two piece floor all the way back to the transom on yours. Mine didn't come that way and had to fill epoxy between to add rigidity for the motor area and the stuffing tube block. Remember to keep the COG 1 inch behind sponson not any further back.

Flipping my bracket and rudder to the right side of rudder. Friggin set screws stripped. They were very tight. What's the secret to loosening these without stripping them? No machine shops close enough for me to have them drill the set screws out and re tap them. $40.00 down the drain.

Drill them out yourself. Go to LHS and get a tap n die set and some set screws. Very easy to do.

Canard template/dry fit. I've seen these in numerous set ups. I was told to give it as much down draft as possible so the nose stays down at high speeds. That's a 28.8 degree which I believe is good. Any thoughts before I cut the canard and apply it?001.jpg002.jpg

That' s a different way of installing the canard. I never thought of it that way, looks great! Are you going to cut out the insides of the sponsons so the canard slides in a bit to each side for extra strength then epoxy?

Thanks. And yes I am. I ordered the wider canard. It's 2 3/8" wide. Screwed my rudder up trying to get the damn set screws out. Tried drilling them out and broke a bit off in one. And you know it's impossible to drill through a drill bit.
