    Douggie,

Are you sure about running a 37mm prop on a Lizard ????

      Hi Gerwin

The Y537/3 was my initial setup prop. I have run Prather 220 and X640 with good results.

I am a bit of a fan of small diameter props with large pitch

Small props with large pitch are for SAWhydro's

For a real breathtaking Lizard : lehner 2250/8 on 6S2P on a X447 Andy Brown.

No kidding....do you have a spare Lehner 2250/8. I could use...at no cost
On cats the small prop also works well
          EDIT
Gerwin, please look at my setup..cheap motor..cheap ESC. and sport useage
Folks, if you do not know, Gerwin is a very experienced FE boat builder and you can take what he states to the bank

              Bababo :

              Nice !
Clean boat, very nice setup !
With the Etti it will work fine.
6S is the limit for the KB8XL.
              Don't run it on 6s2P.
              It will demagnetize the motor.

Thanks the etti esc worked fine till i blew the capacitors in it it was the funniest thing i have ever seen doing a full speed pass the explosion blew the lid off my boat that was taped down six feet in the air i managed to bring the boat in but lost my lid in the pond gutted

just sent the esc back today for warranty not really sure what happened i was only running an X442 prop

                im running Zippy R 21 to 35c 4500mah
what do you mean by 6s2P

                  Adrian, he is referring to the available amperage ..6S1P 4000mah 20C = 80 amps...6S2P 4000mah 20C = 160 amps.
I do not know why this would demagnetize the motor if the prop etc. remains the same over a IP setup. Gerwin?

                    6S2P means double sixpack.

Strange, what happened to your Etti.
At full speed the load on the motor/batt/esc should be minimal.

                      Douggie.

The KB8XL on 6S is fine.
But this motor turns hot easily.
Running the motor for a "very" long period, while it's hot, will
                      destroy it.

In Germany are a few guys who modified the motor, added coolingholes
in the frontend of the motor. And some of the KB's have spacers/shims inside,
they can cause friction on the bearings, which means extra heat. So they removed a shim/installed a smaller spacer.

Thanks Gerwin and as he mentions the KB series of motors are not the best built motors without modifications to tame their heat and amperage draw

Ok i was going to mill some holes in my kb motor too but could not see any point in doing so because the boat is totally sealed
and the kb 45 is really something i wanted to trash the hell out of it to see what it could do i'm not even running thrust bearings on it just looking at some neu motors at the moment but still have another Kb to trash first

Adrian, belive me they are slow to answer...the old fashioned telephone works best

On another point. What are the members thoughts on small diameter to large pitch. IMO...keep the motor running at its perceived optimum rpm to load?? High voltage...low KV large can motors. Keep the prop spinning with the least amperage requirement Or do I have it wrong?
