Boat is exactly 34" so rear of sponsons had to be extended .125" to be legal with .60% afterplane rule. I traced rear of sponsons onto 1/8" plywood then cut out using bandsaw. A cheap hand scroll saw will also work.
Raising and widening sponsons helps heavier hulls get on plane much easier (thanks to Raptor347). I widened and raised ridepads .250" using basswood. Plywood can also be used.
You can see in picture how stearn tapers. Epoxy will be injected into this area to stiffen.
I painted using Sumittracing single stage Red urethane. This Red is a little darker than I like, but what is done is done. Hull is 34" so I can run either P sport hydro or Q sport hydro.
This cheap paint is harder to spray than say a better quality PPG Ditzler Deltron. Extra thinning is required to prevent orange peel. Practice before spraying this crap.
I changed the color from red to black. This poor paint job has lots of fisheyes caused by water contaminents in airline (very frustrating). So I purchased a better airdryer. I will sand down and spot repair. White decals will help make the boat easier to see.
I changed the color from Black to White. I block sanded allmost down to original primer coat using 400 grit then 600 grit paper. Gloss finish is very smooth without color sanding and polishing.
Summitracing's single stage urethane, Pure White mixed 4 parts paint : 1 part activator : 2 parts medium temp reducer. The extra thinning was required to spray thru smallish 1mm tip (Less volume spayed on and better leveling of paint)
