Well, bad news yesterday. I got my Neu motor back and put it in the mounts. I attempted to install the motor and it turns out the rails in the boat not centered properly. They are offset about 3/16" to the port side. With the motor installed only 5.5" from the transom (to keep the CG back) and the 2" long flood chamber for the stuffing tube I simply do not have enough room to make the compound bend necessary to make the installation work. So as I was pondering what to do, I surfed the Seaducer web site and again found a page that said, "all monos are made in Carbon Fiber". I thought to myself this whole situation is unacceptable. So I shot off an email to Seaducer asking to let me return the hull and requesting a new hull in carbon fiber with the rails centered properly. I hope I'm doing the right thing and this all works out for the best. I want to do this build!

      Mike;
Looking at your pictures, If they do not allow you to return the hull for a PROPER CF one,
you actually have ENOUGH tubing there to do the compound curve needed.

I can do that for you.

I appreciate that Carl but the pic that shows the stuffing tube inside the hull was just a test fit. About half the tube shown has to be cut off to allow for the flex coupler. Even if you could make it work, who wants the stuffing tube in a brand new $800 plus boat to look like a cork screw.

Have fun if your going to Queenstown. Weather looks nice.

Got a email from Jerry, He apologized and told me he will make a new hull for me in CF. He also said they started making the FE hulls in glass to make them lighter.

Nice! Looks like you will have to construct another stuffing tube tunnel (which you did a nice job on)...but....I have an idea for you about making that tunnel............instead of making it out of ply (and then having to seal the ply) my thought is to use a peice of 3/4" O.D. pvc pipe with a cap on the motor side...the other open end can be simply glued/ sealed to the transom and the rest of the pipe/ cap glued to the floor.... (just drill a 1/4" hole in the cap where you want you stuffing tube to come out to the motor!! Nice and clean! Also may give you more room back there...... LMK what you think bro....

Actually I was thinking of getting some CF tubing to make the tunnel but in the end I already had the ply so I just went with what I had. Using ply in this hull also keeps the tunnel as low as possible because the next step is to lay another piece of ply between the rails to mount the reciever on. Try the tubing on the Rico though and post some pics. I have seens this done before.

PS- Got Johns VS1 in the mail today. Time to make some more saw dust.

CF would be cool! I understand about making a shelf....i'm planning that too! I will be using a stinger on my Rico, so I won't be doing a tunnel on it.....

Glad you got the VS-1 for John!!!!

                  Update

I recieved my replacement hull this past week. It's CF now and looks sweet. Unfortunately instead of all yellow it has a white hull which I am not particularly fond of but at this point I just want to get the build done. The rails were still a little off center at 1/8 inch but I got the stuffing tube done and am pretty happy with how she turned out. She is just about done. Installed is the freshened up 1515 1y in a Williams racing three inch rail mount. Under all those wires fore of the motor is a Castle 240LV. I found the aluminum servo mounts I like so much for the mini sized servos at Zippkits. Stuffing tube chamber and transom hardware are the same as the first hull so no photos of that again. I layed some 1/8 ply between the rails over the stuffing tube and in front of the motor to keep the receiver and CC240 dry in case the boat takes in a little water. All I need is a few shorter bolts for the motor mounts and some HD dubro ball ends for the pushrods and she is pretty much done. I'm also going to shorten up the battery wires on the controller. Time to get a bunch of 2S packs because 4s packs arn't going to fit outside the rails on this baby.

You've got that Rico running so good I wouldnt change a thing for P-mono heat racing. But then it might be fun for you to do some oval trials with the 'ducer.

The CF hull is much stiffer and the weight difference is neglegible. I really like it.

That LiFe pack is so small, I can fit it as you see it, spin it around 180 degrees or sqeeze it in next to the reciever. Gives me tons of room to move the batteries to adjust the CG.

The UPS man showed up today. I was hoping for some boat parts but was pleasantly surprised with a Popcorn gift tin from some guy in Delaware. Thanks bro! You shouldnt have.

I had a great time running with you this year. We kicked arse in Queenstown and had some major fubars in Chesapeake but it was all good in the end. Cant wait to see what next year brings!!! We had a motley bunch in Chesapeake but I expect a 1000% improvement next year. Hopefully Mr Smock can make it up again and will see a noticable improvement. I hope we can lighten his trailer for the trip home and keep some of that wood in the D12 next year.

Did you say your Seaducer has a white bottom? I like that look....that's how mine will be done (green/ white)....no CF like yours though...
