I am very interested in this build to see the results. Speed, handling and power consumption. I am building a 40" deep vee, but I am going scale offshore boat. Maybe Miami Vice so I can wear my loafers and white blazer with pastel T-shirtwhile running it! Might build two, one very scale and scale like speeds, the other for faster speeds.

Yeah, the next step is to put a nice smooth coat over the wrinkles. Never thought of using vaseline... that might work better than the corn starch did. The final coat will be against a some tape down in the hull to keep it even and prevent sticking. I've just had so many problems with silicone sticking to the hull...

I have two more to do still, so have some room to experiment.

Warmed them up, not hot just decently warm, and gently applied pressure and they popped right out. They aren't really well glued fortunately. I used a "widget" razorblade, like used to remove stickers on car windshields and gently scraped the excess glue off.

Then epoxied them were I wanted them. =)

No runs yet. Might be a couple days, my other half is off work for a few days. Time with her always comes first.

OK, got the maiden run in!

Well, I got to spit water around the pond anyway. I didn't adjust the stinger and the stock angle is up about 6 degrees. Which was about like driving a Corvette in a snowstorm.

I hit a top speed of 30mph, but with a 15 ft high rooster tail and it took about 10 seconds to reach top speed, still clearly slipping.

So, I really think this is a 40+ mph setup, but will have to wait another day to see for sure!

This time, I'm bringing tools to adjust the stinger.

Wonder what a Little Screamer would do in this hull?

Great info , awesome thread . these look like DF knockoffs and with a little tlc could be made to be great runners for the price

OK, got some video, it's uploading now. I don't know what's causing the large amount of cavitation. It's acting like a sports car in the snow. SPIN! SPIN! SPIN!

                        Thanks Pete. =)

It's a big mono. It needs a big motor, and a big prop. The gear is more suited to a 30" mono.

I have to agree with Ryan , It might need a shade more prop

It's a good thing it's cavitating or that little motor would be toast by now. A hull that size needs a minimum of a 55mm prop to run fast and efficiently. The little 540 motor isn't up to the task, no 4S motor with a 2200 Kv would be unless short run time and excessive temperatures are desired.

An interesting exercise - now put an 8S or 10S setup in it and get serious.
