I had an X440 on mine(12XL, 6s) and it ran in the 90's on motor and esc temps..............went to an X442.........on plane MUCH quicker..........more speed.............temps around 110. You could consider an X637...........

    X637:
    Diameter: 1.48"
    Total Pitch: 1.6x1.48=2.368"

P.S. - I have had alot of intensive experience with mine and when you get over 30mph it gets tough to dial in.................i dont think 40+ is even logically obtainable with this hull. Im not being negative...............just shootin' ya straight................I will follow your build all the way thru and am awaiting some vid here in the future!!
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

THATs why that rudder is out of stock! :P

I've been trying to find something to run with the nicds, but I'm not getting much of anything that won't toast 'em, or isn't too small for the hull. I think a single 35mm prop is a little on the weak side for the Villain.

it sounds small considering the stock prop is 45 i think.. so i should not run the 40x53 that i have? i was going to start s/b/p the prop but i might just order some glass/carbon props and see what works best i was looking at a 38mm prop to start

Carbon/plastic props are cheap. Great to get an idea of a setup first.

May I suggest that you not use Deans connectors .... as you get into this hobby and the bug bits harder you will want to go faster! That said when you make the jump to Lipos you will want to use different connectors, then you will have resolder all the batteries why not start with 5.5 mm connectors and be down with it!

Just something I learned the hard way! They are not that more expensive and will handle so much more current.

Right here on Stevens store, he sells a variety of sizes I can't tell you that 5.5mm are the end all perhaps more experienced guys can weigh in on the best size!

When you decide which one stay with it and standardize your fleet .... positive female and negative male connector that way you can't hook up wrong and burn an ESC! Ask me how I know - one of my Mean Machines still has that smell!

                      5.5 should be good.

I have 4mm's in my car with a 5200Kv motor, I run non stop full throttle, brakes, jumps, for a half hour. Motor gets slightly warm, connectors stay cold.

                        New mount suggestion:
                        http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=ose-80200

You won't need to use a wood block for this one, it'll mount right to the hull bottom; though you should add an extra layer of glass where it is going to mount to.

well got the inside sanded down... going to start on the other side tomarrow plan is just to fill in the holes and fix the gash in the back bottom part of the transom. the inside is ready for glass but dont know if i got the right resin? i have to explane latter but its not epoxy in a can i can tell you that.... after reading the carbonfiber thread im just confused

you definitely want to support the rear on an XL motor. It would probably rip the mounting screws through the holes on the CF reinforced plastic mount if you hit a wave.

                              Looking good!!!

well jon bad news i cancelled the order from hobbyking.com and going to order from OSE so i need a new set up... maybe a 540 10XL or 9XL with the motor mount you put up on the post above and Phoenix ICE 100 33.6V Electronic Speed Control from Castle Creations and run 14.4 volts? it may take a bit longer for me to gather parts but what do you think? still useing the bats that i have..
