I do not want to jinx your boat but if some time you want to have some one repaint it after many years of fun. If they need the art work I could send the vector art work to you so it will be the same. It is the stuff I do no my DrSticka program.

I must say that my stay with Tony was great what a host! A lot of my luck at the event was I had so much fun with my bud. This RC world is great.

That would be great Randy. I guess in a few years time it will need to be done again.

Never in a million years I'd guess that rubbing my head would be in the "news", but I guess if it makes your boats go faster I'll roll with the punches... anything for FE, right?!... Just remember, I am happily married

117 kph or 72.7 mph this morning

Well it was the third trip to the lake for this boat today. As it says at the top the best speed with only two runs on a cold battery was 117 kph. On past experience it take at least 4 to 5 of my runs to get the battery up to optimum performance. Time to start pre-heating the battery and get a bit more serious about my runs with this boat.
The first run gave me 116 kph
The second run resulted in a boom breaking and a sponson coming off and the boat came to rest upside down. After retrieving the boat the gps show 117kph. I know the boom breaking was my own fault. If you read back a bit you will see my first trip to the lake ended with a runaway boat that hit the bank at 60 kph. I should have pulled the CF booms out and checked them for cracks. Anyway it is better it happens at 72 mph than 100 mph. It is a simple fix as long as I have the correct size CF rod in stock.
The more I test this boat the more I am excited by it. The boat is still running as it came out of the box. Hats off to you Randy

I look forward to hearing how that goes Chuck. I guess with your prop work you do not get much time to test. You should pack the Xzess 2 in and test that too.

Paddy the prop work isn't the problem ... it's charging the batteries that is so time consuming (mine)!

When You re glue the sponson make sure each sponson is flat to each other. Both lifting at the same plane, 3.5 degrees. I am sure you have heard it from me before. Take your time do not rush and it will be good.

Congrats on the speed. The best runs are done on flat water. This will be more important the faster you go.

Great work Paddy, you must be well pleased. Sure has got me excited about riggers again!

Always good to see pics and video proof... im always a bit sceptical when someone can take a pic of their GPS's max speed, but not video the run...!!

I think we all are. I know a lot of people would find it hard to believe my DF 33 clone is doing 70 mph with the promise of more to come if it was not for videos to back it up. I am trying to show my 38 inch riggers trip to 100 mph (i hope) with a wort's and all approach. There has been a couple of embarrassing mistakes I have made while testing in the thread I would rather have left out but maybe they will help someone else not make the same mistakes. I am learning and having fun as I go and as you can see there is a lot of help coming from some SAW greats too.

I think you will do it too man, 117k on the 3rd run is pretty damn respectable!

The mistakes are part of learning , Success does not come without failure, and you are right, they might help someone else..

The help from the SAW Greats is always a plus and enriches the whole rc boating community.

                          Keep up the good work!

Paddy, that may be a good excuse for a family trip to Auckland! you can bring the boat as a "back up plan". heheheheheh.

Paddy, a good thing for you to do is check on the notes you have from the XS3 setup, most of it will be applicable... that is of course, if you aren't already.

The video is just to show those that are interested that I have not lost interest in this project. I think it is fair to say that I am being a little more cautious than I was at first. I am not rushing to the lake at every opportunity but checking things out (my repairs) well. My DF 33 project is time consuming and rewarding as well. I am finding more fun and excitement in my FE boating than ever before. I have found some great friends in the model boating world to top it all off.

Jan, yes I have been using some of the things learned with Mr Krabs to help get this thing moving. I started with an M545 prop because it was the fastest prop I ran on Mr Krabs. It is a lot faster on the BBY rigger than it was on Mr Krabs.
