Out for a run this morning.
Strut up a lot and a bit of positive in there too.
Grim 40mm 3 blader was very nice.
Graupner 40mm 2 blade was mad.
The big change I made was to go from 2P to 1P.
This cat hauls on 5000mAh 4S1P.

I have no gps now but I can easily say this one is over 40mph and with that I am very happy. That is all for this one for speed.

It sits on the rears as does my smaller cat and rides well. It still rolls to the outside on the corners a little but I will play with the underside to get that sorted.

I have other jobs ( at home) on the go at the moment so may be a little slow on here.

No video, not now and not in the foreseeable future.

    I love fast wooden boats.

I have spent a lot of time recently on this one taming the bounce and the horrific roll in the turns. I have it close but now have a new problem, well not new but old and that is the motor and packs.
The 7XL that is in there is well thrashed and the packs are tired too.
The 7XL is not a good motor for this size hull and needs to come out.

I can go with a 8xl and stay on 4S with 2S+2S or for a better overall set of numbers can go with a 9XL on 5S being 2S+3S.
I have a few 2S boats and can use the 3S in some of them too so I have no drama having different packs.
I need some new packs so buying 2S and 3S packs is all the same to me.

I want to keep my good 4S pack for the big rigger.

8XL on 4S or 9XL on 5S either way with a watercooled mystery 200A esc.

          Thoughts, suggestions ??

I would seriously get rid of one rudder and see what happens in the corners. Your servo could be weak if running bothe rudders and they are just snapping around from torque.

Good Idea Jeff, also one is less drag. leave the right one and get rid of the left one, will be interesting to see if that changes it much.

I have already run it with one rudder. left and right.
Not a major difference as the turn speed is low for tight turns. The high deadrise was the main issue but this has been tamed with further flat sections.
It will now roll a little outboard in a turn but will also turn nicely at a "scale" speed.

This hull was never intended as my fastest boat. That is what my riggers are for.
I just wanted something that will look nice on the chop that comes up on the Quarry pond and will run mid to high 40mph, 70-75 kmh
My small cat is good for 40 on calm water.

I am now seriously looking at the 9XL on 5S.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Here is the new bottom shape.
I have done with the deadrise and gone for a 2 layer flat setup as I did with the smaller Cat, that one is wicked fast.

The steps are set so that the are all in line.

This one now runs very flat and stable and corners well at below wot.
Given the packs that I had in there today and the props I can safely say that this hull will air out well onto the rears and run fast as soon as I get the new motor and packs in there. (ordered last night )

This cat should be as fast as my little cat, but then again that is an insane little cat

Trailing edge 6x30mm !! Makes it so easy to build out the deadrise. I have lots of long boards with sandpaper stuck on with double sided tape, this makes it easy to flaten, square and true the pads.

The existing setup is a 7XL (not a good idea)
                      2S+2S 5000 20C (not enough for the 7XL)
Mystery 200A (takes a lot of abuse)
Graupner K40 or a 40mm 3 blade Grimracer. The K40 is faster just.

                      I have a 9XL and a 3S+2S 4500 30C packs on the way
Then I'll have some fun and run time.

My small cat will probably stay quicker than this one, that one is insane.

Oh how I envy you for the Mistery.... could not find one outside ebay, so I am stuck with Himodel and Pulso (quite good, but 100A). The new 5S packs should be here next week, but I'm away...
I ordered the 6x30 and 5x25 for another project.

Right I have the 2S+3S Packs on the charger and the 9XL in the boat.
I have not got enough good o-rings and as all the good shops are shut for the holidays, so I can not fit a cooling jacket.
I threw on and old alloy coil that will be ok for a few quick squirts to see how the 9XL is on 5S

I have a few numbers that tell me that it will be at least as fast as the 7XL on 4S but with lower amps and therefore less heat and more run time.

If the weather is settled in the morning I may even get to see what this will do on AndyM's best 642.

I'll be back tomorrow if the weather is fine.

There is no way I am going to swing the 642 on here . It is well fast on the smaller props.

The weather was ok with a gusty SW that flipped the Canard into the wind.

The Cat was nuts !! Here is the joy of the very non-linear Mystery ESC with a pack that has 4.22/cell. The launch is not as bad as the little cat which is a good thing as that one usually ends up on its lid.
Once the pack settled in I could get some good wot passes on the Grim 40mm 3 blader. That is proper quick !!

In for a temp check and all was not good. The packs were just warm and the speedie was warm but the can was a bit too warm. The coil is not enough and I will now have to jacket this one. I am low on o-rings so that is why i ran the coil.

After a cool down I sent it out for a spin with a Graupner 440. That was faster but loaded the motor and was causing a lot of heat.

For now I'll stick with the Grim 3 blader and have the rpm that I love
I may give the 637 a whirl, otherwise it is the 3 blader and high 40's low 50's for this Cat.

On the 2"chop it was like a knife through butter and with the CF440 is was begining to get up on the tail as I like Cats to run.

Now that I have the 5S+9XL in here i will get to play a lot more........as soon as I can get some rings to sort the jacket.

                            Back later.
