The Jury is still out on the 440's with the new rpm...............
One of the 440's is resting on the pond bottom and I can only smile as it is a K40 which is a few dollars plus a whole shaft that is about a few more dollars and a few hours to make.

Yes it went out with the Typhoons today and looked good down the first pass until I dropped the power for a turn and then it became very obvious that a prop and/or shaft had gone.
This hull has only spat a shaft once before, due to poor fitting by me , so it has never had stub saver nuts fitted. IT WILL NOW !!

I'll throw together a new set of shafts and get this beast back on the water soon.
    See it....find the photos.....sketch it it....build it........with wood

Simon, do you ever fiberglass your balsa hulls? I have my 36" almost ready for sealing and I am waffling now about whether to throw glass in or just epoxy resin seal... thoughts? I have the whole front end full of 2part foam and carbon fiber inside, so it is not lacking for strength, I am just thinking that it may force me to do 2 coats of epoxy sealer, when I might get away with just one w/o glass.

glass ?? not at the price of the stuff here. I worked with composites for many years and would love to do it again but for now I use a lot of wood and copious layers of sealer and varnish.
