If we have not met before I retire in 2014 we sure will then Douggie. I have a list of boaters I want to meet before I have my ashes spread on my little lake. Your name is written on my list in blood. I have spoken with you on the phone so I know you are no arsehole. I take you for a well educated gentleman that likes a bit of fun but will not back his cart from anyone if he thinks he is right. I admire a man like that. There are too many princesses with boats that need to take some of Choppers advice

So you have inflammation of the heart membrane. Guess you wont die but it can get bad if it is not treated. Take a stiff scotch and hope for the best digger.
Seriously, it is your heart, so do as your doctor says. Antibiotics will fix the bacteria. Even I have put myself on a diet and have started exercising each day since my Doc told me I had Angina. I am taking about 1/3 of the Anginine tablets I used to.
That will be $80 and make another appointment on your way out

I smashed crap out of left knee in '92.. survived 2 myocardial infarctions 1993+4... ... MVA ( on motorcycle, runned over by metro bus 'he didnt see the red light, or me waiting for the green ... ' .. lotsa broken bones.. woke weeks later 1995 ) ..radiation exposure ( cost me 1/3 leg 1998 ).. Kidney failure ( due radiation. failed 2004 ) ....thrice weekly haemodialysis ( 3x8hr sessions attached to a blood filter ) ... a quad cabg ( coronary arterial bypass graft = heart bypass 2005) ... a kidney transplant(2008) and lost left knee due 'surgical misadventure'(2010).. ... now talking about more interior decorating and thought it prudent for a quick peek inside the old pumper.
Ive an artefact growing inside my pumper ( aortic valve vegetation noted, endocarditis ) possibly accelerated by the immunosuppressants that keep my Tx graft in tact.
Plans afoot to push ultrasound down my gullet to look at the pump from the top. then roll over to slide it past my prostate checking from beneath... ( hope they start at the top.. dont like eating same food twice )

No, I dont waste coin on lottery tickets...

Why not just give up and quit?
Not in my nature to back down from a fight.

              Wayne

ps.. antibiotics will kill the Tx kidney
psx2. thats the abbreviated list above ...

What do you do for kicks? Not much left to do after that lot. Now I know why you have a few FE boats.
All understood about the antibiotics and kidney transplant. My sister had one of those just to beat me to the punch. She always has to be first at everything but you know what women are like. She is on her second dose of cancer due to the meds that stop the body rejecting the new kidney.
Doc you are an inspiration to us all. After all those things happening in you life you can still contribute in many ways to not only this forum but to the country. If I wore a hat I would dip my lid to you sir.

I rarely discuss these matters .. some women consider a broken nail as a life changing event.. they back away as if my unlucky carcass is contagious... ( or keeping distant from my groping hands .. never thought of it that way before.. Hmm .. )
At least I have my faculties.

Seriously though.. Ive quals, skills and interests that keep me well employed, entertained and totally engrossed in all of it..

Late advice is rarely the best.

You sure got that right. The girl in the pic above just finished Uni and will have a starting salary of more than $60,000 a year. That is chickenfeed to you I know, but it is more than I have earned in my whole life, according to what I tell the tax man

I could do with a private nurse... all these aches and pains and twinges in fingers and toes I do and dont got are distracting.
