A thought based on an incorrect understanding about what his plans are. Even the article you linked to makes it clear he is not talking about paramilitary civilian groups.

And again, this is your incorrect understanding and not what he is saying. I have not seen anywhere in his actual words where he talks about armed civilian para-military type security groups. He is talking about increasing our security by getting people involved in making the country a better place and by reaching out through volunteerism to repair the damage done to our reputation in the world.

It is only the right wing fanatics who have chosen to spread fear by trying to make others think that he is talking about "arming Acorn".

Sorry Darin, this is not "more info" this is a right wing extremist OPINION on what they want you to believe in order to ratchet up the fear index. Haven't you gotten the point that this is how the GOP and RW pundits manipulate their followers?? Keep you afraid and use misinformation and smear to spread that fear. And sadly, it works.

You say you read the article you linked to. Did you see this?

It seems clear that he meant to say, in effect, that the security of the nation is as dependent on its unarmed community service providers as it is on its armed military personnel.
But then they added their own twist:

Except in his case, he means to marshal volunteers for social service and economic equality while saving the environment.

"Because the future of our nation depends on the soldier at Fort Carson, but is also depends on the teacher in East LA, the nurse in Appalachia, the after-school worker in New Orleans..."

That is, of course, true. But ultimate national security requires someone to carry, and, if necessary, discharge a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
See how they do this?? They say first what Obama is clearing talking about and then tell you what they think that means. Classic. Not once has Obama talked about armed civilian units, but every RW whack job pundit wants you to think that is what he means.

In simpler terms it is called LYING. It is your choice on whether or not to buy into their continued fear mongering.

Sorry Bill... I don't buy it... Not any more than you would buy me saying that the purpose of the 80% liberal bias'd media is doing what they are doing in order to lull us into a sense of calmness and bliss in order to make us more comfortable with "The One"...

Oh... maybe that IS what they are trying to do...

It's odd how every "other" opinion, especially those that simply don't align with the Lefts view of "right and wrong" are considered "EXTREMIST", or "Right-Wing Extremist"... How about just "opposing" opinions?? Why are they so "extreme"??

It's clear that the Left, such as yourself, have your perspectives set and are not going to be swayed by any amount of information that might otherwise make you question your position...

Let's be very clear... I'm NOT in "Fear", as the Left like yourself always likes to tell us when we question ANYTHING about their intentions or their candidates or their plans... I am informed and see patterns in this candidates associations, patterns of thinking, speaches, and plans, that I think should be of grave concern to anyone who currently enjoys their way of life. He has outwardly lied to the American people on more than one occasion and has gone back on his word. Which reminds me, the "won't raise your taxes" line is now down to $100,000...

I'll tell you what... I'll be the first to admit that I was completely wrong should Obama win and the Nation continues on to prominence and prosperity... Until then, I'm going to question his intentions with a lot of objectivity and with my eyes OPEN... Easy to do for me, since I don't give a rip how eloquently he speaks or how "handsome" he looks, and I could give a rip about his gender, race, or religion... deal??

And, for the record... I'm NOT a GOP, or Republican... I'm a Moderate... I'm tolerant, a thinker, believe in "fairness", etc... I don't believe that extremes in EITHER direction are a good thing for this country... That's why I back Senator McCain... He's proven to work on a balanced platform that will keep the pendulum from swinging too far to either side...

AMEN to that! Exactly why I back McCain also, his fairness and balancing of parties.

And as I said, that is your choice. I do not agree with you and to believe as you do you must first think Obama is lying and the RW fear mongers are telling you the truth. Seems like a long way to go to get to an opinion, but as I said, it is your choice.

ANd for the record, I can and have changed my mind when presented with FACTS. But you and others never present actual facts. You present your interpretation of the facts and when presented with the truth respond that you "don't buy it".

And that is all I ever ask, use actual facts, not the rants of the RW pundits who have a poor relationship with reality.

And as far as the $100,000 tax thing, can you cite an actual impartial source that supports this conclusion? I am not talking about the Drudge report, or Rush, etc.

              Here's an example:

It clearly states that from $100,000 to $250,000 Obama's and McCain's plan are essentially the same. But the Right is all out there now with the $100,000 number. Where does that come from?? Who said it? What sources do they cite??

                Bill,

Right now I make $100K. I'm not "rich" by any means. My newest car is a 2001 PT Cruiser. Not exactly a "status symbol" vehicle. My 1700 square foot home is modest at best and in need of many expensive repairs.

Here's a deal I will make you. When B. O., Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Ried start manipiulating the tax codes, I'll compare my Bush tax bill to the B.O. tax tax bill, and compare them to his campaign "promises". You will see that he is lying. I will not see taxes go down. Neither will you.

Well... let's see.... Obama himself said the $250,000, then later said the $200,000... then Biden himself said $150,000.... then last week Bill Richardson said the $120,000.... I'm not sure who said the $100,000... You are right... I just heard that on the radio... Sure discredits the sources I'm sure...

As far as me coming from a perspective that "Obama is lying"... well... At first, we hear things that are questionable... His plans, his agenda... his desire to "Fundamentally change America"... One HAS to ask "What does he mean by that"... so then you look... you research... you listen... You start seeing pieces fitting together in to a pattern... You hear the rather WEAK excuses... "oh, what he really meant was...".... "Oh, that was just Joe being Joe....".... "Oh... you are taking this out of context..."...

EVERYTHING I have seen, believe, have heard, have reasoned, etc., is NOT, and can NOT be simply me "taking this out of context"... That's just you trying to talk away those things that may interupt your ability to be a part of something "historic"...

America's true hope is that there are enough people in the middle who can still think for themselves and draw reasonable conclusions...

I believe it was Joe Biden that gave the $150K number.
